Yuuki Mishima is the Moon Confidant in Persona 5 Royal. To rank him up, focus first on completing the Mementos requests he gives you; dialogue answers can improve hangout affinity, but they are not the main progression gates. His abilities steadily increase battle EXP and help reserve party members keep up.
How to start Mishima’s Moon Confidant
In Persona 5 Royal, Mishima is introduced on April 11, and his Confidant begins automatically in a story event on May 6. The rank-by-rank dates and request requirements below come from a guide specifically for Persona 5 Royal; they should not be assumed to match the original Persona 5.

After the link begins, look for Mishima at night. He is initially found on Shibuya Central Street, and later appears in Shinjuku and Akihabara as those areas become available. Rank 6.5 is an intermediate progression step listed in the guide, not a numbered Confidant rank. If you have completed the relevant request but cannot find Mishima, check the in-game map and his messages for your current save. Guide accounts differ on how consistently he is available after rank events, so a fixed cooldown is not reliable advice.
Moon Confidant rewards: Mishima’s EXP abilities
Mishima’s main benefits are EXP boosts. The abilities help the active team earn more experience and reduce the leveling gap for party members waiting in reserve.

The rewards make Mishima especially useful if you rotate characters or want reserve teammates to remain viable without putting them into every battle. The listed ability progression is supported by both Prima Games and the GameFAQs Persona 5 Royal guide.
Do dialogue choices matter for Mishima’s ranks?
Dialogue answers matter for hangout affinity, but they are secondary to the Mementos request gates. Prima Games marks many of its suggested answers as “ANY”; use its answer-by-answer walkthrough if you want to optimize affinity during each scene. A GameFAQs guide also notes that having a Moon Persona does not affect progress with Mishima.
