What happened?
Know Your Meme’s account, updated August 14, 2025, says a video first posted on X on August 8 showed Peterbot using racial and homophobic slurs. It reports that the clip then spread across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This is a secondary account of the video and its circulation, not independent authentication of the original recording. Know Your Meme’s timeline describes the controversy and online reaction.
What did Peterbot say?
A NewsGrail report published August 9, 2025, reproduced a response attributed to Peterbot. According to the report, he said the clip was recorded at the “Agent House” when he was 16, that others influenced him and asked him to say the slur, and that this context did not excuse his words. The report also reproduced an apology to affected communities. Read The NewsGrail’s account.
The NewsGrail quoted Peterbot as saying, “That does not excuse my words, but it is important context for understanding the circumstances.” Its report also reproduced: “I want to sincerely apologize to the communities affected and to anyone who has been hurt by my words.” These are quotations reproduced by a secondary report, rather than independently verified here against the original X post.
