2K announced PGA TOUR 2K25 on January 14, 2025, with a February 28, 2025 release date for the Standard Edition. The golf simulation from HB Studios launched first on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam; Nintendo Switch 2 availability followed on February 6, 2026. The announcement highlighted three cover athletes, major championship courses and gameplay changes including EvoSwing. These dates are historical, not upcoming.
What 2K announced
2K presented PGA TOUR 2K25 as the next entry in its golf simulation series, developed by HB Studios. Tiger Woods, Matt Fitzpatrick and Max Homa were named as cover athletes. Woods also appeared on the Legend Edition cover, and Homa was making his series debut. The publisher said the game would feature the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open for the first time in the franchise.

The launch announcement named 11 male and female professional golfers and 27 licensed courses. 2K highlighted THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass and the 2025 major championship courses. Those counts are the publisher’s announced launch figures, not independently audited totals. Read 2K’s January 14, 2025 announcement.
What was new in the game
EvoSwing and shot behavior
2K described EvoSwing as a gameplay system adding shot types and ball flights, with updated roll physics. The announcement also promised visual improvements. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the feature; they do not, by themselves, establish how each change performs in play.

MyPLAYER and MyCAREER
Players could create a customizable MyPLAYER and develop it through MyCAREER. The announced progression systems included Attribute Points, Skill Trees and Equipment Progression. Players could dynamically simulate career rounds or choose additional training and pre-tournament events.
Course Designer, Topgolf and Societies
The announcement also highlighted expanded Course Designer tools, the return of Topgolf, and cross-platform Societies. These features broadened the announced package beyond the career and on-course simulation modes.

Original release date and platforms
2K announced February 28, 2025 as the Standard Edition release date. Deluxe and Legend Edition preorder customers were offered up to seven days of early access, beginning February 21, 2025. Both are past dates.

How the later editions and Switch 2 release changed the lineup
Pro Edition and Legend Edition Year 2
In January 2026, 2K announced digital-only Pro Edition and Legend Edition Year 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Pro Edition includes the base game, Extra Butter x adidas Pack, Birdie Pack and Pro Accelerator Pack. Legend Edition Year 2 includes Pro Edition content, plus Year 1 and Year 2 Member’s Passes and associated cosmetic packs. 2K also said the Pro Accelerator Pack would be sold separately to existing owners. Nintendo Switch 2
2K announced PGA TOUR 2K25 for Nintendo Switch 2, available February 6, 2026. The publisher said the version supports modes and features including MyCAREER, Course Designer and online Societies, and offers offline modes for portable play. Online modes require an internet connection. The announcement described Standard and premium editions for Switch 2 but does not establish whether its Standard Edition is physical. Cross-platform play, progression and online requirements
The official support FAQ says cross-platform play is supported among PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Cross-platform progression is not supported, so do not assume that progress carries between those platforms. Online functionality requires an internet connection and a 2K Account. The FAQ describes the Clubhouse Pass as seasonal, with 100 tiers and 34 free reward tiers, and originally said five seasons were planned at roughly 12 weeks each. That five-season plan is historical: 2K’s January 2026 update referred to Seasons 6–8. In that update, the publisher said 2026 Major Championship courses would be added free through automatic updates during 2026. Its February 2026 update said the 2026 PGA Championship course at Aronimink was available and named Shinnecock Hills and Royal Birkdale as future-season content.
