Try the steps in order and test the game after each one.

Check for a PGA TOUR 2K25 update
Highlight the game on the PS5 home screen, press the options button, and choose Check for Update. Install any available update, then test the same activity that caused the crash. 2K has addressed particular MyCAREER problems in updates, but those fixes do not establish that every crash is covered. Restart the PS5

Install the latest PS5 system software

Move the game to console storage if it is on USB extended storage
If PGA TOUR 2K25 is installed on a USB extended-storage drive, move it to the PS5’s internal console storage and test again. PlayStation specifically recommends internal storage for a PS5 game installed on USB extended storage. This is a targeted check, not evidence that every external drive causes crashes. - PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. - PUMA sponsor selection: 2K’s August 2025 notes say an issue causing a crash when signing the PUMA sponsor in the MyCAREER Sponsors menu was addressed.
- Re-entering a MyCAREER save: Those notes also say an issue preventing players from loading into a MyCAREER save after closing the game and trying to re-enter it was addressed.
- MyCAREER freezes: 2K’s April 2025 notes say reported MyCAREER freezes were addressed.
These are bounded, previously reported symptoms—not a complete list of causes or a guarantee that a current crash has the same cause. If your issue matches, make sure the latest game update is installed before trying more disruptive steps. Restore licenses
If the problem looks related to game access or ownership, restore licenses from Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. PlayStation includes this in its general game-start checklist; it is not a confirmed PGA TOUR 2K25 crash fix. (PlayStation game-launch troubleshooting)

Delete and reinstall the game
If the crash persists, delete PGA TOUR 2K25 and download it again, or reinstall from disc if you own the disc version. PlayStation includes deleting and reinstalling in its game-start troubleshooting guidance. Before deleting anything, check PlayStation’s save-data guidance and confirm that any save you need is backed up or synced. Reinstalling the game is not the same as repairing a damaged save, and the cited guides do not claim it will fix a particular MyCAREER save. Clear the PS5 cache in Safe Mode
PlayStation lists Safe Mode cache options among its troubleshooting steps. Follow PlayStation’s official Safe Mode instructions for how to enter the menu and select the cache option; do not choose other Safe Mode actions unless you understand their effects. Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
If the problem continues, PlayStation also lists rebuilding the database as a Safe Mode troubleshooting option. Use PlayStation’s instructions to select the correct menu item. Contact the right support team with evidence
For a repeatable crash limited to PGA TOUR 2K25, contact 2K. If other games also crash or the problem appears console-wide, contact PlayStation Support. Gather the exact error code or message, the action that triggers the crash, steps that reproduce it, and a screenshot or video if possible. Choose the next step based on what is failing
- The game will not launch: Prioritize the update, restart, system-software check, and license restoration before reinstalling.
- A particular MyCAREER action triggers the crash: Compare it with the PUMA sponsor, save re-entry, and MyCAREER freeze issues described in 2K’s patch notes, then verify the game is updated.
- The game is on USB extended storage: Move it to internal console storage and retry before deleting it.
- Other PS5 games also fail: Treat the issue as potentially console-wide and include that detail when contacting PlayStation Support.
- You own the disc version: If the problem appears disc-specific, use PlayStation’s separate disc troubleshooting guidance. Disc checks do not apply to a digital copy.
What the patch notes do—and do not—confirm
2K’s April and August 2025 notes document targeted work on reported MyCAREER freezes, the PUMA sponsor crash, and trouble loading a MyCAREER save after closing and reopening the game. They do not identify a universal cause for PS5 crashes, publish a crash rate, or say that every issue is resolved for every player. A crash outside those situations still needs troubleshooting on its own symptoms.
PlayStation’s launch and error-code pages offer general console steps. They are useful when a PS5 game will not start, but they do not establish that a particular step fixes a title-specific PGA TOUR 2K25 defect.
