What did the Phantom Blade Zero gameplay deep dive show?
In a PlayStation Blog post introducing the deep dive, S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang said the earlier preorder trailer could not cover the game’s systems, combat and setting. The resulting broadcast, described by S-Game as nearly 20 minutes, focuses on how players can configure their fighting style and explore the Phantom World. The presentation establishes the studio’s intended design and the features it says the game will include. It does not establish how those systems feel across a full playthrough; no hands-on or post-release verdict is available here.
How does combat and weapon customization work?
S-Game’s deep-dive recap says players can unlock more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons, called Phantom Edges. Weapons can be upgraded and paired with accessories, and the game also includes summons. These are unlockable options, not a claim that every weapon is available from the beginning. S-Game’s recap lists the weapons and systems.

The current PlayStation product page instead describes 30+ primary weapons and 20+ Phantom Edges. The two official pages therefore give different counts for secondary weapons; the deep-dive announcement’s specific figure is 25. See the current PlayStation product page.
Is Phantom Blade Zero open world?
No: the preview describes a connected but non-open world. Epic’s recap says the game spans eight regions, with nonlinear exploration, secrets, side quests and clues. PC Gamer describes the areas as eight connected, hand-painted maps. That structure suggests room to explore and revisit routes without claiming one seamless open-world map; the final experience remains unreviewed.

Liang described the setting as “a place rife with conflict and intrigue,” where Soul encounters people in need. That is the studio’s framing of the Wulin, not an independent assessment of the finished world. Epic’s deep-dive recap covers the regions and premise. PC Gamer reports on the map structure.
What is the story premise?
According to Epic’s recap of the deep dive, Soul is betrayed by The Order, left for dead and saved with a fatal condition that gives him 66 days to live. He searches the Wulin underworld for a cure. This is the setup shown in the preview, rather than a complete account of the plot or its ending. Epic’s recap summarizes the story setup.

What is Donnie Yen doing on Phantom Blade Zero?
S-Game says Donnie Yen has been a creative consultant on the game since 2023 and provides the facial and motion-capture performance for Mó Yuan, Soul’s father. The announcement identifies those contributions; it does not establish Yen as Soul’s voice actor. S-Game’s announcement explains Yen’s role.

The game is listed for PS5 and PC. S-Game and PlayStation state October 29, 2026, while Steam lists October 28, 2026. The checked pages do not explain the one-day difference; a regional timing explanation is possible but unverified. Steam identifies S-GAME Studio as developer and S-GAME Publishing as publisher. PlayStation lists the PS5 release and preorder. Steam lists the PC release date.

S-Game moved the release from September 9 to October 29 in June 2026. Reporting by PC Gamer quoted Liang apologizing to players and saying the team did not want to release the game while there was still an opportunity to improve it. PC Gamer reported the delay.
What PS5 features are listed?
PlayStation’s product page lists DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, adjustable difficulty (basic), pause during gameplay and cinematics while offline, manual saving, subtitles, and control and tutorial reminders. These are PS5-listed features; the page does not confirm that the same options or controller functions apply to PC. The DualSense features are optional game-specific support, not a stated requirement. Check PlayStation’s current feature listing.
PlayStation also lists the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy appearance as early unlocks that can be earned through game progression, and its Deluxe Edition includes a digital artbook and digital soundtrack. These listings do not establish a physical-disc edition or physical collectibles.
