When does Phantom Blade Zero come out?
S-Game’s official site lists October 29, 2026. The PlayStation Blog gives October 29 and says the game launches October 28 in the US and select regions; Steam also lists October 28, 2026. Check your local store for the release date and unlock time that apply to your region.

What is Phantom Blade Zero about?
PlayStation describes the game as a dark wuxia action RPG built with Unreal Engine 5. You play Soul, a swordsman with 66 days left to live who is framed for killing his master. Pursued through the Wulin, he investigates the conspiracy behind the accusation. S-Game characterizes the setting as a blend of traditional wuxia, fantasy and folk horror, and uses “Kungfupunk” for its aesthetic.
How does the combat work?
The combat centers on building a loadout from a large selection of weapons, then improving and combining gear. On August 17, 2026, S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang wrote on PlayStation Blog that players would unlock more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges. The PlayStation US product page describes the secondary arsenal differently, listing 30+ main weapons and 20+ Phantom Edges. These are separate publisher and storefront descriptions, so the secondary-weapon count is not consistent across the two sources.

Liang’s blog describes weapon upgrades, accessory combinations and the ability to reforge upgrades to recover materials. It also mentions summons as part of the combat toolkit. These are developer-published feature descriptions, not independent assessments of how the systems feel in play.
Three announced difficulty choices
- Wayfarer: intended for players who want to prioritize the story.
- Hellwalker: a higher challenge, with more advanced and adaptive enemy intelligence, according to the developer.
- Sixty-Six Days: described by the developer as exceptionally demanding.
The PlayStation Blog also says kung fu performer Donnie Yen is a creative consultant and portrays Mó Yuan using facial and motion capture.

What can you explore?
The game’s world is described as connected areas rather than one uninterrupted open-world map. In a report about the August 2026 State of Play, PC Gamer reported eight connected maps, quoting Liang’s description of hand-painted Chinese ink-wash maps and bell-based fast travel between locations already discovered. The report characterized the structure as between a linear adventure and an open-world RPG.
The PlayStation Blog says side quests can open story paths. Together with the reported connected maps and hidden secrets, that suggests exploration is meant to offer detours and discoveries without establishing that the game is a conventional open-world RPG.

What editions and preorder details are listed?
When checked, the US PlayStation listing showed a Standard Edition at $59.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $69.99. The Deluxe edition includes the full game, two appearances—Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form—a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack. The US listing also describes preorder bonuses: early unlocks for the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy appearance, both of which it says can also be obtained through in-game progression.
