Soul’s story
Soul is a swordsman accused of killing his master. He has just 66 days to live and is hunted as he tries to uncover the conspiracy behind the accusation. The premise and setting draw on classic wuxia storytelling, according to the official Steam description.
Weapons, exploration and progression
PlayStation’s August 17, 2026 deep dive describes more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges, as well as upgrades, accessories, summons and ranged options. A separate PlayStation product page gives a different count for Phantom Edges: 20 or more. These are figures from different official pages, not a settled total.

Is Phantom Blade Zero a Soulslike?
The official descriptions cited here call Phantom Blade Zero a dark wuxia action RPG; they do not establish it as a Soulslike. PlayStation lists adjustable preset difficulty, tutorial and control reminders, manual saving, subtitle options and the ability to pause during offline gameplay or cinematics. Those features may help players assess whether the listed options suit them, but they are not a substitute for a hands-on evaluation of the game’s combat or challenge.
