Steam notes that the minimum specifications target VR and that lower specifications may work for non-VR play. That is not a guarantee that a below-minimum PC will run the game smoothly or reliably. Yes. The Steam listing names VR support and OpenXR. VR is optional: the listing also identifies single-player and online co-op without making VR a prerequisite. The cited listing does not confirm compatibility with particular headset models, so check a headset manufacturer’s current PC and OpenXR compatibility information before buying or setting one up.
Is Phasmophobia still in Early Access?
Yes. Steam lists September 18, 2020 as the Early Access release date, and the Windows listing remains marked Early Access. Kinetic Games says its current plan is a full release in the second half of 2026, while explicitly warning that timing may change as features are added and the game progresses through Early Access. v0.18.0.0: Willow Street and quality-of-life changes
Kinetic Games’ July 21, 2026 announcement for v0.18.0.0 describes a rework of 13 Willow Street and the first 2026 Quality of Life update. On PC, equipment slots can be switched with keys 1, 2, 3, and 4, and those keys can be rebound. The update also changed photo and evidence handling and added a ghost. v0.19.0.0: restricted maps and other changes
The August 25, 2026 v0.19.0.0 update added restricted map variants and custom-difficulty ghost selection, alongside VR-rig work and other gameplay changes. An official v0.19.1.0 note dated October 7 describes a small preparation update ahead of the Crimson Eye event, scheduled to launch October 8, 2026. What is planned for Phasmophobia?
Kinetic Games’ 2026 roadmap includes plans for a player-character update, a Unity 6 update, a netcode update, a Nintendo Switch 2 launch, and version 1.0 with a horror rework and lore update. It also describes the Willow Street rework and another new map.
