Phasmophobia launched on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 on October 29, 2024, the same day its Blood Moon event went live for console players. Kinetic Games paired the console release with optional cross-play, letting PC and console players investigate together. Blood Moon was part of the game’s recurring Crimson Eye Halloween event, which is scheduled to return from October 8 through November 1, 2026.
When did Phasmophobia come out on console?
Phasmophobia’s Early Access console release was October 29, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2. Kinetic Games announced optional cross-play with the release, so console players could join PC players. PlayStation VR2 is one supported option, not a requirement: the same launch included Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions. The release notes establish the platform list and optional cross-play, but do not establish a preferred platform or comparative performance.
What happened during the original Blood Moon event?
Blood Moon was a weather type introduced in the October 2024 Crimson Eye update. Kinetic Games described it as empowering ghosts. Players carried out investigations, completed optional objectives and photographed Blood Altars to earn Blood Points. Blood Moon’s danger and reward details have varied by year, so year-specific descriptions matter. For the 2025 return, Kinetic Games said ghosts moved faster during hunts and sanity drained faster under Blood Moon weather, with increased investigation rewards. Those exact mechanics should not be assumed unchanged for the 2026 event: its announcement describes a greater challenge but does not restate those effects. Kinetic Games’ 2025 event announcement
When is Crimson Eye 2026, and which maps are included?
Kinetic Games scheduled the 2026 Crimson Eye event for October 8 to November 1. The announcement lists eight locations for the event:
- 6 Tanglewood Drive
- 42 Edgefield Road
- Grafton Farmhouse
- 13 Willow Street
- Bleasdale Farmhouse
- Point Hope (Standard only)
- Camp Woodwind
- Nell’s Diner
The announcement also notes that Tanglewood and Willow have been reworked and that Point Hope Restricted is excluded. These are event-specific map details, not a permanent change to the game’s map selection. Kinetic Games’ 2026 Crimson Eye announcement

How does the 2026 event work?
The core loop is to investigate on event maps, complete optional objectives and hunt Blood Moon totems for points and rewards. The event connects those personal activities with community progression. What changed in later Crimson Eye events?
The event returned after 2024 with updated progression and map arrangements. In 2025, Kinetic Games rotated selected maps in groups of four each day. Its v0.14.2.0 update made the event trophy upgradeable through personal goals, allowed trophy progress to carry forward to a future Crimson Eye, and added event leaderboard support on PS5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X|S.
