Planet Zoo 2 launched on PS5 on 13 October 2026, bringing aquatic and flying animals, customizable aquariums and aviaries, and conservation-focused Wildlife Reserves to Frontier’s zoo-management series. Those features make the sequel’s advertised scope clear, but available evidence does not establish how well it performs or feels to play on PS5. Without hands-on testing, calling it “sublime” or “Frontier at its finest” would be an unsupported verdict.

The core task is to build and manage a zoo around animal needs, visitor experience, staff, and finances. Frontier’s product descriptions list Career, Franchise, and Sandbox modes. The sequel’s headline additions are fully aquatic and flying species, habitats built as aquariums and aviaries, and Wildlife Reserves where players can restore habitats and release animals. These are advertised features, not proof of their depth, balance, or quality in play. Frontier Developments · Xbox Wire
What is new: aquariums, aviaries, and Wildlife Reserves
Customizable aquariums
Frontier describes fully aquatic species as new to the series. Aquariums are presented as customizable habitats rather than simple display tanks, with filtration and staff airlocks among the described systems. The key question for a PS5 player is how these features work in practice: the descriptions do not establish their usability, management demands, or how meaningfully they differ from other habitats.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Flying animals and aviaries
The sequel also advertises fully flying species and customizable aviaries. Frontier describes support structures that generate covers, as well as walk-through aviaries for guests where safe. These features expand the kinds of environments the game says players can create, but their handling and effect on the management loop require direct play to judge.
Wildlife Reserves and conservation
Wildlife Reserves shift the advertised focus from running a visitor-facing zoo to conservation projects. Players can customize reserves, restore habitats, and release animals. The official descriptions establish the concept, but not how much decision-making or progression the reserve activities add.

How the management game is meant to work
Frontier’s descriptions put animal welfare and guest satisfaction at the center of a broader balancing act. Players construct habitats, attend to animals’ distinct needs and behaviors, manage staff morale and training, and try to generate income while maintaining the zoo’s ratings. Career, Franchise, and Sandbox are listed modes, giving the game different stated frameworks for management and creation. Frontier Developments · Xbox Wire
Franchise mode includes trading animals with other players, while Frontier Workshop offers player-created builds and blueprints. The PS5 store listing says online features require a PlayStation account. That statement does not specify which individual features need a connection, or establish how much of the game is available offline. PlayStation Store · Xbox Store

PS5 review verdict: what is—and is not—established
The announced additions give Planet Zoo 2 a broader advertised remit than habitat construction alone: aquatic and flying animals, customizable specialist habitats, and conservation reserves sit alongside the familiar pressures of animal care, visitors, staff, and income. That is a promising feature outline, not enough to establish that the PS5 game is sublime or that it represents Frontier at its finest.
No hands-on PS5 test, performance benchmark, review score, or player statistic is established by the cited material. In particular, there is no verified basis here to say how comfortable building is with a controller, how readable or navigable the interface is, whether large zoos remain stable, or how the new systems feel once their demands interact. Nor is there a grounded comparison with the original Planet Zoo that would support a claim about which game is better. A responsible PS5 verdict on those points requires direct play.
