Extradimensional Crisis is a digital themed booster expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, centered on Ultra Beasts. It launched on May 29, 2025. It is not a physical Pokémon TCG booster set with the same name.
When did Extradimensional Crisis launch?
Extradimensional Crisis arrived on May 29, 2025. Pokémon’s May 22 announcement gave the release time as May 28 at 11:00 p.m. Pacific time; the official trailer description and launch-day coverage gave the date as Thursday, May 29. Those descriptions refer to the same launch across time zones.
What kind of release is it?
It is a themed booster expansion within the mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket, not a physical booster product. Specialist publication PokéBeach described it at launch as a 103-card subset, codenamed A3a. That card count and codename are PokéBeach’s reporting, rather than details established here as official Pokémon wording.
Why is it called Extradimensional Crisis?
The expansion’s central theme is the arrival of Ultra Beasts. Pokémon’s official trailer names Nihilego, Buzzwole, and Blacephalon, and describes Ultra Beasts as “mysterious entities who appear from Ultra Wormholes” in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, as well as Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Does the expansion have an Ultra Beast deck theme?
Yes, as a deck-building prompt: the official trailer says, “Try combining the Ultra Beast cards you’ve collected to build decks.” PokéBeach also reported that the Ultra Beast label lets certain effects target those cards. These details establish a theme and a card interaction, not that any particular deck is powerful or competitive now.
Is there a physical Extradimensional Crisis set?
The name refers to the Pocket expansion in the available launch information; that information does not establish a physical booster release called Extradimensional Crisis. PokéBeach noted that Ultra Beasts had not appeared in the main physical Pokémon TCG since the Sun & Moon era. That historical context is separate from Pocket’s digital cards: the formats have different products and play environments.

Collector note: If you collect physical cards featuring Ultra Beasts, look for cards from the Sun & Moon-era physical TCG sets rather than assuming the Pocket expansion is a physical product.

The launch sources establish its release date, theme, and launch-era card details. They do not establish whether it is currently available in the app, what events are live, or how its cards perform in the current metagame. Treat claims about present availability or competitive strength as unverified unless checked against current in-game information or current tournament reporting.
