PlayStation’s free Resident Evil 30th anniversary avatar promotion has ended. The deadline was April 30, 2026, so new registrations can no longer claim the avatars. For people who registered in time, the process involved several steps, and PlayStation said vouchers would arrive after the campaign.
What the promotion offered—and whether you can still claim it
Capcom created a limited-edition set of PlayStation avatars celebrating the Resident Evil series’ 30th anniversary and the launch of Resident Evil Requiem. PlayStation said the avatars drew inspiration from characters in the games and Resident Evil CG movies; Capcom’s Resident Evil Portal also identifies 2026 as the series’ 30th anniversary. The campaign page set its closing time at 23:59 JST on April 30, 2026. That date has passed, and the official terms do not offer a new claim route for people who missed the deadline. (PlayStation campaign terms)
Why getting the avatars felt like a pain
In many participating territories, claiming the avatars meant using more than one PlayStation service and completing a separate campaign registration. PlayStation’s main campaign page listed these steps:

- Download Sony Pictures Core from the PS5 media home screen or the PlayStation Store on PS4.
- Register on the campaign website to receive a voucher.
After registering, users had to wait for the voucher rather than redeeming it immediately. PlayStation said it would send vouchers by email and through PS App or console notifications after the campaign, by late June 2026, while warning that delivery could be delayed. The voucher could be applied at checkout, but only on the PlayStation account it was emailed to. (PlayStation campaign terms)
Those separate requirements and the wait help explain the frustration; they do not establish that the promotion was technically broken. June 2026 community posts include reports of confusion about the steps and of receiving codes through email or notifications, but those are individual accounts—not official rules or guaranteed delivery timelines. Regional rules were not identical
The instructions depended on the region of the PlayStation account. PlayStation’s main campaign page listed the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg, Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands. On that page, Sony Pictures Core was part of the listed steps.
The Korean-language campaign page listed a different set of eligible territories, including South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Its stated steps did not include the Sony Pictures Core requirement. The pages also localized their campaign deadlines, so their instructions should not be combined as if they applied to every account. For the relevant terms, consult the main PlayStation campaign page or the Korean PlayStation campaign page for the account’s region.

If you registered but never received a voucher
PlayStation’s campaign page anticipated delivery by late June 2026 and said delays were possible. It does not provide a definitive remedy for someone who registered before the deadline but still has no code, or whose voucher failed. Because the voucher was tied to the account that received it, a code sent to another account would not work on yours. Check current PlayStation support information for guidance on a missing or failed voucher; the published campaign terms do not promise a replacement or restored eligibility.
