When did Playtika go public, and what was its ticker?
Playtika shares began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on January 15, 2021, under the ticker PLTK. The company announced that the offering closed on January 20, 2021. Playtika’s closing announcement gives both dates.
How did the IPO produce an $11 billion valuation?
The final IPO price was $27 per share, above the preliminary prospectus range of $22 to $24. The final prospectus reported 412,767,200 shares outstanding after the offering, based on the share count as of September 30, 2020. Multiplying that count by $27 gives approximately $11.14 billion. That is an implied equity value calculated from the IPO price and post-offering share count; it was not the amount of cash raised.

The distinction matters: the share price applied to all shares outstanding gives an implied company equity value, while the IPO sold only a portion of the shares.

Who sold the shares, and who received the proceeds?
The 79,925,000 shares sold comprised 18,518,500 newly issued shares from Playtika and 61,406,500 shares sold by an existing stockholder. The stockholder’s total included 50,981,500 shares in the offering and 10,425,000 more through the fully exercised underwriters’ option. Playtika stated that it received no proceeds from shares sold by the stockholder.
Before final pricing, Playtika’s S-1/A estimated net proceeds to the company at approximately $468.7 million, assuming a $23 per-share midpoint. That was a preliminary estimate under the earlier pricing assumption, not the final proceeds figure at the $27 IPO price. The SEC’s final prospectus and Playtika’s closing announcement distinguish the company’s newly issued shares from those sold by the existing stockholder.

What kind of company was Playtika?
Playtika described itself in its January 2021 prospectus as a free-to-play mobile and social games company. Its operating model included live operations and a proprietary technology platform for running and updating games, alongside a portfolio expanded substantially through acquisitions. The company reported $2,286.2 million in revenue for the twelve months ended September 30, 2020; that is a period-specific prospectus figure, not a current result.
Playtika’s 2020 annual report says it was founded in Israel in 2010 and released Slotomania as its first game. It also describes the Playtika Boost Platform and the company’s acquisition-led portfolio growth. These company disclosures provide context for what investors were buying into, but do not change what the IPO valuation represents.

What did the IPO mean for control of the company?
Playtika’s final prospectus said that after the offering, Playtika Holding UK would retain approximately 79.8% of voting power. Under the 2021 prospectus, that meant Playtika remained a “controlled company” under Nasdaq corporate governance standards. This describes the ownership position stated at the time of the IPO, not current ownership.
