“Pokémon Adventure” refers to two different Minecraft projects. The current pack most players mean is COBBLEVERSE – Pokémon Adventure [Cobblemon], built for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on Fabric. A separate, older CurseForge pack by GWSheridan targets Minecraft 1.10.2 on Forge. Confirm which one you downloaded before installing anything; their loaders, files, and server commands are not interchangeable.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Which Pokémon Adventure modpack do you have?
Read the project name, Minecraft version, and loader shown in your launcher or download page. The current Cobbleverse project is a Fabric pack for Minecraft 1.21.1 with both client and server support. Its release descriptions promote a custom adventure world with gyms, badges, starter content, unique structures, music, shaders, and a Pokédex advertised as containing all 1,025 Pokémon. The current CurseForge description also advertises 93 Mega Evolutions. Those feature counts belong to the project descriptions and may change as files are updated.

The legacy project is the older “Pokemon Adventure” pack by GWSheridan. Its last-update information on CurseForge is January 12, 2018, and the page records 1,000,241 downloads. It uses Minecraft 1.10.2 and Forge. It is not an earlier server build of Cobbleverse; it is a separate project with a different mod ecosystem.
| Project | Minecraft | Loader | Server files | Use these instructions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| COBBLEVERSE – Pokémon Adventure [Cobblemon] | 1.21.1 | Fabric | Maintained server-pack structure | All installation and server steps below |
| Pokemon Adventure by GWSheridan | 1.10.2 | Forge | Separate legacy server pack | Legacy section only |
A Fabric 1.21.1 client cannot join a Forge 1.10.2 server, and a legacy Forge client cannot join a current Cobbleverse server. Every participant must use the same Minecraft version, loader, and pack build.

What the current Cobbleverse pack includes
Cobbleverse combines Cobblemon gameplay with an adventure progression layer. You explore a custom world, find structures, collect starter Pokémon, work through gyms and badges, and battle while the pack’s music and optional shaders shape the presentation. The Modrinth listing advertises all 1,025 Pokémon, while the current CurseForge listing advertises 93 Mega Evolutions. Treat both numbers as release-page claims rather than permanent guarantees: updates can add, remove, or rebalance content.
The project supports single-player and multiplayer. A client installation and a dedicated server installation are separate: installing the pack in your launcher does not create a server, and copying only the client’s mods folder is not a substitute for the maintained server pack.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsClient requirements and memory planning
Use Minecraft Java Edition, not Bedrock Edition. Select Minecraft 1.21.1 and Fabric in the launcher profile. The project’s current guidance is at least 4 GB of allocated memory for smooth single-player play. For multiplayer, start at 6 GB or more. These are starting points, not benchmarks; view distance, shader use, the number of loaded chunks, player count, and other client settings change the requirement.
- Single-player: allocate 4 GB as a practical starting point.
- Multiplayer client: plan for 6 GB or more, especially with shaders or high view distance.
- Dedicated server: begin with at least 6 GB for a small group; the supplied launch example reserves 4 GB initially and allows up to 8 GB.
- Leave memory for the operating system: do not assign all physical RAM to Minecraft. A machine running the server, desktop, voice chat, and other services needs headroom.
More RAM cannot compensate for an overloaded CPU, slow storage, excessive simulation distance, or a mismatched mod set. Increase memory only after confirming that the correct pack and loader are installed.
Install Cobbleverse with the Modrinth App
The project describes the Modrinth App as its official distribution route. This is the simplest option because the app creates the instance, downloads the pack files, and keeps the loader associated with the selected profile.

- Install and open the Modrinth App, then sign in if the app requests an account.
- Open the Discover or modpack browsing view and search for COBBLEVERSE – Pokémon Adventure [Cobblemon]. Verify that the listing says Minecraft 1.21.1 and Fabric.
- Select Install. If several files are offered, choose the current 1.21.1 release shown by the project rather than an unrelated pack with “Pokemon Adventure” in its name.
- Open the new instance’s settings and check the memory allocation. Set 4 GB for a typical solo profile; use 6 GB or more when the same computer will connect to a busy multiplayer world or run shaders.
- Launch the instance once without changing optional performance settings. Let Fabric and the pack finish downloading, then reach the title screen before adding shader packs or custom resource packs.
- For multiplayer, use Multiplayer and add the server address supplied by the host. Do not copy a server’s world folder into your client instance unless the server operator specifically tells you to.
If the app shows a different Minecraft version, stop and recheck the project identity. The legacy 1.10.2 Forge pack may appear in search results under a similar short name.

Install through another launcher
GDLauncher documentation describes creating a Fabric instance and allowing the launcher to install the supported loader. The labels differ by release, but the required choices do not:
- Create a new instance and choose Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Choose Fabric as the mod loader, not Forge or NeoForge.
- Import the Cobbleverse modpack file using the launcher’s Import or Install modpack command.
- Confirm that the imported profile lists the pack’s mods, configuration files, resource packs, and datapacks. A profile containing only the Fabric loader is incomplete.
- Set memory in the instance’s Java or RAM settings, then launch once and check the title screen for the expected pack.
If a launcher reports missing dependencies, remove the incomplete instance and import the official pack file again. Manually mixing individual Cobblemon mods with files from another Minecraft version often creates harder-to-diagnose errors.
Use the maintained server pack for a dedicated server
The project’s maintained server-pack repository provides a ready-to-use Fabric structure, configuration files, datapacks, and startup guidance for Linux and Windows. It specifies Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric Loader 0.16.14. Download that server archive rather than trying to turn a client installation into a server.
Linux setup
- Download the current Cobbleverse server archive from the project’s maintained server-pack repository and extract it into a dedicated directory.
- Open a terminal and change to that directory, for example with
cd /path/to/cobbleverse-server. - Accept Minecraft’s EULA by creating
eula.txtcontaining exactlyeula=trueon its own line. Do this only after reading the EULA included with the server files. - Start the supplied Fabric launcher. The repository’s example command is:
java -Xmx8G -Xms4G -jar fabric-server-mc.1.21.1-loader.0.16.14-launcher.1.1.0.jar nogui - Wait for the first startup to generate the world and configuration files. Stop the server from its console with
stopbefore editing generated files. - Open
server.propertiesin a text editor. Set the server name or MOTD, confirm the listening port, and adjust gameplay settings deliberately rather than copying values from an unrelated pack. - Enable command blocks before generating maps. The repository specifically calls out this prerequisite because adventure content can depend on command-block behavior.
- Start the server again and watch the console for a message that it is ready to accept connections. Give friends the public address and port only after network access is configured.
The example reserves 4 GB at startup (-Xms4G) and permits growth to 8 GB (-Xmx8G). Change those values to match the host’s physical memory. A computer with only 8 GB total should not normally dedicate the entire machine to an 8 GB Java heap.

- Extract the server archive with 7-Zip, WinRAR, or Windows’ extraction tools. Keep the directory path short and avoid placing the server inside a synchronized cloud folder.
- Open Command Prompt in the server folder. In File Explorer, click the address bar, type
cmd, and press Enter, or use Open in Terminal. - Create or edit

start.batin the server folder with that command on one line. Keep the window open while the server is running; closing it terminates the process unless you have configured a service wrapper. - Stop the first run with
stop, editserver.properties, and enable command blocks before creating the world. - Start the batch file again and confirm that the console reaches the ready state without missing-mod or datapack errors.
Windows Firewall may ask whether Java can communicate on private networks. Allow the server process on the network profile you actually use, and expose a port to the public internet only after you understand the security and forwarding implications.
Configure the world, port, and backups
Server name and port
Edit server.properties while the server is stopped. Set the MOTD so friends can identify the world, and use the port you intend to forward. If another service already occupies that port, choose a free one and give players the matching address in the form example-address:port.
Command blocks and adventure content
Enable command blocks before generating maps, as directed by the server-pack instructions. Changing this after a world has been built can leave adventure triggers in an unexpected state. If you are migrating an existing map, test gyms, scripted encounters, and starter content in a copy first.
Backups before updates
Stop the server and copy the world directory, server.properties, configuration folders, and datapacks to a separate location. Back up before changing the Minecraft version, Fabric loader, pack release, or datapacks. Keep at least one backup that predates the update so a failed migration can be rolled back without overwriting the only working world.
Let friends connect from outside your home network
A local server works immediately for devices on the same network once they use the host computer’s local IP address. Internet players need three things: the server must be listening on the configured port, the operating system firewall must allow Java, and the router must forward that port to the server computer’s local address.

- Give the server computer a stable local IP address through your router’s DHCP reservation or a carefully configured static address.
- Set the same port in
server.propertiesand in the router’s port-forwarding rule. - Forward only the required Minecraft port to the server’s local IP. Do not forward administrative services or remote-desktop ports merely to make Minecraft work.
- Test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot. Testing from inside the same LAN can produce misleading results on routers without NAT loopback.
- Share the public address privately with trusted players. If the address changes, use the new address rather than changing pack files.
If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work. In that case, use a managed host or a private networking solution that every player understands; do not disable firewall protections as a workaround.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
A managed Minecraft panel can install the pack with one click and handle much of the operating-system administration. The project pages recommend at least 6 GB of RAM for a strong multiplayer experience and describe their own use of a high-memory hosting machine; those are project recommendations, not independent performance tests. Prices, plan limits, support response, and included backups vary, so check the provider’s current terms before paying.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed server panel |
|---|---|---|
| Version and loader control | Complete control over Fabric Loader 0.16.14, pack files, configs, and datapacks; you perform every upgrade. | Usually offers a one-click pack installer, but panel templates may lag behind a new release. |
| Memory and CPU | Uses hardware you already own; you must leave headroom for the operating system and other processes. | Choose a plan with at least 6 GB as a starting point for multiplayer and verify CPU limits. |
| Backups and rollback | You design the schedule and store copies off the server. | Automated backups may be available, but retention and restore fees differ by plan. |
| Network setup | Requires firewall rules, port forwarding, and possibly a changing public IP. | The host supplies a public endpoint, reducing home-router work. |
| Administration | Maximum access to files and logs, with responsibility for Java, security, and updates. | Web console and support reduce routine work, while advanced file or mod changes may be restricted. |
| Recurring cost | No hosting subscription if you already have suitable hardware, but electricity and maintenance remain. | Monthly cost buys convenience, uptime, and support; compare the actual RAM, CPU share, storage, and backup limits. |
Choose self-hosting when you are comfortable with command-line administration and already have a reliable machine. Choose managed hosting when port forwarding, uptime, or maintenance is the problem you are trying to remove.

If you intentionally mean the GWSheridan project, install its Minecraft 1.10.2 Forge profile and use its matching server files. Do not apply the Fabric 1.21.1 launcher command, Cobbleverse configs, or current server archive to it. Third-party host documentation commonly suggests 4 GB as a starting allocation and 6 GB or more for additional headroom, but those figures are host recommendations rather than universal requirements.
Legacy servers also require every player to match the exact Forge build and mod list supplied with that pack. Keep a copy of the original server files, because modern launchers and Java runtimes may not handle a 2018-era installation in the same way as a current Fabric profile.

Troubleshooting common installation and server failures
The launcher says the pack needs another Minecraft version
Check the instance profile, not just the pack’s name. Set Minecraft to 1.21.1 and Fabric for Cobbleverse. If the profile says 1.10.2 or Forge, you selected the legacy project.
“Incompatible mod” or missing dependency errors
Delete the incomplete instance and reinstall the official pack file. Do not add random versions of Cobblemon, Fabric API, or performance mods until the unmodified pack launches. A single mod built for another Minecraft version can prevent the entire client from starting.
The server stops immediately after launch
Confirm that eula.txt contains eula=true, that the command names the supplied launcher JAR exactly, and that the Java executable is available in the terminal’s path. Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown line; the first error usually identifies the missing file, permission, or incompatible loader.
Players time out or cannot see the server
Verify that the server reached its ready message, that clients use the same pack build, and that the firewall allows Java. From outside the home network, test the forwarded port and public address. A correct local connection does not prove that router forwarding or carrier-grade NAT is configured.
Severe lag or long world-generation pauses
Lower view and simulation distance, remove heavy shaders from clients, and watch CPU, memory, and disk usage while players explore new chunks. Increase the server heap only when the machine has unused physical memory. Back up before changing datapacks or performance-related settings.
A world breaks after a pack update
Stop the server, restore the pre-update world and configuration backup, and test the new release on a duplicate copy. Do not repeatedly start and stop the only copy while experimenting; each launch can write additional world or registry changes.
Pre-launch checklist
- Every player has Java Edition, Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric, and the same Cobbleverse release.
- The server uses the maintained server pack, Fabric Loader 0.16.14, and the supplied launcher.
- Memory is allocated with room left for the operating system; 4 GB is a single-player starting point and 6 GB or more is a multiplayer starting point.
eula.txtis accepted, command blocks are enabled, andserver.propertieshas the intended MOTD and port.- The firewall and router expose only the Minecraft port required for connections.
- The world, configs, datapacks, and server properties have a recoverable backup.
- Everyone knows whether they are joining a current Fabric 1.21.1 world or the separate Forge 1.10.2 legacy pack.
What to verify before downloading a new release
Pack files and feature lists are volatile. The CurseForge page showed release 1.7.42 for Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric on July 22, 2026, but a later file may be current when you install. Check the project’s current release entry, server-pack repository, loader version, and memory guidance at the time of setup. Update the server and clients together, and keep the previous files until the new world has been tested.
