The championships themselves took place August 16–18 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The in-game event is over, so its limited-time encounters, moves, research and bonuses are no longer available through that event.
When was the Pokémon GO World Championships event?
The official competition took place in Honolulu from August 16–18, 2024. Pokémon GO’s global celebration lasted longer: Friday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m. through Tuesday, August 20, at 8:00 p.m. local time. GO Battle Week had its own schedule, beginning at 12:00 a.m. on August 16 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on August 20, local time. These were separate event windows.
The event announcement invited players to watch the competition stream at 9:00 a.m. HST each day. It also said the globally available 2024 Worlds Tee (White) avatar code would be shared during the first day’s stream; the announcement does not establish that the historical code can still be redeemed. Pokémon GO’s event announcement has the original schedule and feature details.
How could players get World Championships 2024 Pikachu?
The costumed World Championships 2024 Pikachu made its Pokémon GO debut during the celebration. Players could encounter it through event Field Research and one-star standard raids. The event announcement said a Shiny version might be encountered if lucky.

Field Research could also award encounters with Swablu, Mienfoo and Mareanie. These were event-period encounter routes, not current sources of the rewards.
Which Pokémon appeared in the wild and raids?
Wild encounters
More frequent wild encounters included Mankey, Lickitung, Marill, Paldean Wooper, Swablu, Fletchling, Carbink, Grubbin and Mareanie. Skarmory was an additional possible encounter. Shiny availability was noted for marked Pokémon in the original event announcement.
Standard raids
| Raid tier | Featured Pokémon |
|---|---|
| One-star | World Championships 2024 Pikachu, Mienfoo |
| Three-star | Lickitung, Galarian Stunfisk, Diggersby |
Shadow Raids
| Raid tier | Featured Pokémon |
|---|---|
| One-star Shadow Raids | Shadow Magnemite, Shadow Dratini, Shadow Wooper, Shadow Gligar |
| Three-star Shadow Raids | Shadow Wobbuffet, Shadow Kirlia, Shadow Sableye |
Gyms not controlled by Team GO Rocket could still host other raids, so these lineups were not guaranteed at every gym.
What event-exclusive moves were available?
During the event window, catching Lickitung could yield one that knew the Charged Attack Body Slam, and catching Mienfoo could yield one that knew High Jump Kick. Evolving the following Pokémon during the event could also produce the listed move:
Rank #2
- The Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Day 2026 Collection includes 1 foil promo card featuring Pikachu with a Pokémon Day stamp.
- This also comes with 1 Pokémon coin.
- You will also receive 3 Pokémon TCG booster packs.
- Booster Packs May Vary from those pictured.

|---|---|

| Swablu to Altaria | Moonblast |
| Grubbin to Charjabug | Volt Switch |

These were specific to the 2024 event window; they should not be taken as a statement about which moves are available from catching or evolving those Pokémon now.
What were the GO Battle Week bonuses?
GO Battle Week: Shared Skies overlapped the celebration but ran on the longer schedule of August 16 at midnight through August 20 at 11:59 p.m. local time. Its bonuses and formats were distinct from the main event’s encounter schedule.
- Four times Stardust from win rewards, excluding end-of-set rewards.
- A daily limit of 20 sets, or 100 battles, instead of five sets.
- Free battle-themed Timed Research featuring a Lana-inspired wig avatar item.
- Greater variance in Attack, Defense and HP for Pokémon encountered as GO Battle League rewards.
The listed formats were Great League, Ultra League, Master League and Catch Cup: Great League Edition. Those were the historical event formats, not a current schedule.

Avatar items and global code
Starting August 16, the shop offered the 2024 Worlds Ukulele Pose, 2024 Worlds Bucket Hat and 2024 Worlds Aloha Shirt. The 2024 Worlds Tee (White) was tied to a code shared during the first competition-day broadcast. The event announcement does not confirm that the past code remains redeemable.
Livestream Sableye research
Viewers who enabled Twitch Drops and watched the Pokémon GO livestream could earn Timed Research awarding a Sableye encounter. The official Worlds livestream rewards announcement connects the featured Pokémon to ItsAXN’s 2023 World Championships performance. Its other game-specific rewards were separate from the Pokémon GO Sableye research.
Was there a physical Worlds Pikachu card?
Separately from the game event, The Pokémon Company announced a Worlds 2024 Pikachu promotional card as a gift-with-purchase at selected local and online retailers, including Pokémon Center, beginning August 2, 2024, while supplies lasted. That was a past promotion; it does not establish current availability. See the official promotional card announcement for its original terms.
