The XP figures in the checklists are the old thresholds for advancing into levels 41–50. They are different from the current rebalanced XP totals: the official current figures are 3,953,000 total XP at level 40 and 12,753,000 total XP at level 50. (Pokémon GO’s current level milestones)

All legacy Pokémon GO level 41–50 requirements
These are the level-up XP gates and task checklists from the former level-50 progression, as reported by a detailed guide to the legacy requirements. They are useful as a historical reference, but they are no longer current Level-Up Research requirements. (Eurogamer’s level 41–50 guide)

What changed in the current level system?
Pokémon GO’s October 2025 update raised the Trainer cap from 50 to 80, rebalanced XP requirements, and removed the Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41–50. The official announcement says Level-Up Research is now associated with levels 71–80. (Official level update)

As a result, the legacy thresholds in the table should not be read as current XP gates. The official current milestone totals are 3,953,000 total XP for level 40 and 12,753,000 total XP for level 50. Those are total XP milestones on the rebalanced curve, not the old amounts required to advance into each level. (Current XP milestones)
How XP carries over
Trainer XP comes from gameplay actions such as catching Pokémon, visiting PokéStops, and battling. Pokémon GO’s Help Center says XP beyond the amount needed for a level carries over to the next level. (Pokémon GO Help Center: How do I level up?)

Why these old tasks are still useful to know
The old checklist remains relevant if you are checking a pre-October 2025 guide, comparing the former level-50 challenge with today’s progression, or looking up a task remembered from the original system. For current advancement, use the level requirements shown in the game and the current official update rather than treating the historical level 41–50 list as active research.
