Offer codes and promo codes are different
Niantic uses two terms for different kinds of code. An offer code can grant in-game items without a purchase. A promotional code is applied to an eligible Web Store purchase and may add items or discount the purchase. The distinction matters: a purchase-linked offer is not a free code. The $9.99 threshold is the monthly-code rule stated on Niantic’s help page; check the live terms because purchase requirements can change. Niantic says purchase-linked promo codes cannot be used in the in-app shop.
How to redeem a free Pokémon GO offer code
- Open the official Pokémon GO Web Store offer-redemption page.
- Sign in using the same credentials you use for Pokémon GO.
- Enter the offer code and submit it.
- Look for the confirmation message identifying the items added, then check the game for the rewards.
Niantic describes offer codes as limited, one-time-use offers that may be connected to special events or sponsored partnerships. A code can therefore be genuine without being available to every account or remaining valid indefinitely.
How to use a purchase-linked promo code
- Sign in to the Pokémon GO Web Store and choose an eligible item or bundle.
- Open the Promo Code control beneath its description.
- Enter the code and complete the purchase if the code is accepted.
These codes do not apply in Pokémon GO’s in-app shop. Check the code’s eligibility, minimum spend, and any offer period before buying; Niantic’s promo-code help page describes restrictions that may apply.

Why a Pokémon GO code may not work
- It has expired. Event codes and partner promotions can have firm claim windows. A code from an old list is not evidence that it still works.
- It has already been used. Codes may be limited to one redemption, one user, or one use in a stated period.
- You are using the wrong redemption route. Free offer codes go through the Web Store offer-redemption page; purchase-linked promo codes are entered during checkout on a qualifying Web Store purchase.
- Your sign-in method is unsupported for web redemption. Niantic says accounts that sign in with Pokémon Trainer Club credentials alone cannot currently redeem offer codes on the Web Store. Link another login provider and sign in with that provider. Details are in Niantic’s offer-code help.
- Account permissions or age rules block it. Niantic Kids accounts cannot interact with sponsored offers by default; a parent must allow Sponsored Content. Niantic also says child accounts cannot make Web Store purchases or redeem the purchase-linked promo codes covered by its promo-code rules.
- The offer has purchase or eligibility terms. For promo codes, check that the item, account, purchase amount, and offer period qualify. Do not assume a code applies to an in-app purchase.
Recent official examples are not a live code list
The Pokémon Company International announced the code GOTOURKALOS on February 27, 2026, as part of its Pokémon Day announcement. It introduced the code with the sentence, “Finally, here’s a promo code to receive one of the Kalos region’s first partner Pokémon:” and directed readers to the Web Store. That announcement records a past promotion; it does not establish that the code remained active on October 4, 2026. Read the February 27 announcement.
Other official offers also had defined windows. The Pokémon GO Twitch rewards described in the 2026 Pokémon World Championships post had a September 11, 2026 claim deadline, which had passed by October 4. A Pokémon GO x Target promotion offered an avatar item for qualifying Target gift-card code redemptions from May 2 through July 31, 2026; that promotion had also expired. Neither is a current free-code claim.

How to check whether a code is current
- Look for an official announcement or the promotion’s own terms, including its end date and region or account restrictions.
- Distinguish a free offer code from a purchase-linked promo code before entering it or spending money.
- Check whether the code is single-use, limited to selected players, or subject to a period limit.
- Prefer the Web Store’s confirmation after submission over third-party lists or community posts. No universal active code is established by the official sources reviewed as of October 4, 2026.
