Standard Dialga is a Steel- and Dragon-type Pokémon, so Fighting- and Ground-type attacks are super effective in raids. Build a team around the strongest attackers you can use reliably, then use curveballs, accurate throws and berries to improve your chance of catching it. After a standard raid, the cited catch range is 2,217–2,307 CP without a weather boost or 2,771–2,884 CP in Snow or Windy weather.
What is Dialga weak against in Pokémon GO?
Standard Dialga’s Steel/Dragon typing makes Fighting- and Ground-type attacks the useful super-effective choices. Prioritize Pokémon with strong moves of either type; a Pokémon’s typing alone does not make it a good counter if its available attacks do not match.
Dialga raid counter rankings are estimates, not guaranteed results. Team strength, weather, friendship bonuses, Mega bonuses, move availability and raid group size can all affect how a lineup performs.
How to choose Dialga raid counters
Compare attackers using both damage and staying power. The Pokémon GO Hub counter guide reports DPS (damage per second), TDO (total damage output), estimated faints and time to win. Higher DPS can help a team finish sooner; greater TDO can mean an attacker stays in the battle longer. The best practical choice depends on your roster and raid conditions, rather than a universal ranking.

The guide describes estimates that account for factors such as defender typing, weather, energy remaining after charged attacks and Shadow stat changes. Its stated estimates do not include friendship or Mega damage boosts, and its time-to-win and faint estimates omit some field conditions. Treat the rankings as a comparison aid, not a field-tested promise. See the Pokémon GO Hub Dialga counter guide for its current move and metric listings.
Dialga raid CP and catch odds
For standard Dialga, Pokémon GO Hub lists these post-raid encounter ranges: 2,217–2,307 CP without a weather boost and 2,771–2,884 CP with Snow or Windy weather. The lower range corresponds to the level 20 reference encounter and the boosted range to level 25. The reference page also lists 4,565 as Dialga’s maximum CP at level 50; that is not the post-raid catch range.

Catch odds depend on the throw, berry and medal bonuses. In Pokémon GO Hub’s level 20 model, the base chance is 1.67% per throw without throw or berry bonuses. A curveball Excellent throw is modeled at 5.17% without a berry and 7.51% with a Golden Razz Berry, assuming no medal bonuses. These are modeled probabilities for those specific conditions, not fixed odds for every player or a guarantee of capture.
How to improve your chance of catching Dialga
- Use a consistent curveball. Practice a throw you can repeat rather than risking inaccurate throws for a bonus you cannot reliably land.
- Aim for the largest ring you can reliably hit. A smaller accurate ring bonus can be more useful than repeatedly missing an Excellent throw.
- Choose a berry for your priority. A Golden Razz Berry is a reasonable choice when securing the encounter matters most. If candy matters more, a Silver Pinap may be an option, though the cited model gives it lower catch odds than a Golden Razz.
- Make each throw count. Catch chances apply per throw; no single berry or throw type guarantees that Dialga will stay in the ball.
Standard Dialga and Origin Forme Dialga are not the same raid question
Origin Forme Dialga has a form- and event-specific connection to Roar of Time. Niantic’s official announcement for Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day said Origin Forme Dialga appeared more frequently on August 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. It stated that defeating one gave trainers a chance to catch an Origin Forme Dialga that knew the Charged Attack Roar of Time. Those are details of a past event, not evidence that Origin Forme Dialga is in the current raid rotation. Check the in-game raid listings or current official announcements before planning around its availability. Niantic’s Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day announcement
Niantic describes Roar of Time as powering an Adventure Effect that costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Dialga Candy to activate. It pauses timers for Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces for six minutes, and the effect can be extended. These mechanics are separate from the standard Dialga raid counter and catch guidance; check Niantic’s Roar of Time Adventure Effects announcement for the official explanation.
