What was new in Part I?
Morpeko debuted and changed form in battle
Morpeko made its Pokémon GO debut during the event. It could change between Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode when it used a Charged Attack, but at launch this form-changing feature was limited to Team GO Rocket battles and GO Battle League. Aura Wheel was Electric-type in Full Belly Mode and Dark-type in Hangry Mode. In Trainer Battles, each version had 100 power and increased Morpeko’s Attack by one stage. Dynamax Gastly arrived in Max Battles
Dynamax Gastly debuted in one-star Max Battles. The announced one-star lineup also included Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble; Falinks appeared in three-star Max Battles. Pokémon caught in Max Battle encounters, and their Evolutions, could Dynamax in Max Battles.

What bonuses and encounters were available?
- Catch Candy: Trainers received 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Candy XL chance: Trainers level 31 and up had an increased chance to receive Candy XL when successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
- Shiny encounters: The announcement highlighted an increased chance of encountering Shiny Umbreon in raids and Shiny Zorua in the wild.

Field Research
Event Field Research could award encounters with Sableye, Scraggy, Golett, Sandygast, Morpeko, Nymble and Greavard. Some Trainers might also encounter Spiritomb. Certain tasks could reward Mega Energy for Gengar, Houndoom, Sableye, Banette or Absol. The announcement does not map each Pokémon or Mega Energy reward to a specific task.
