To hunt shiny Bellsprout, check the wild encounters and event listings currently available in your area, then tap eligible Bellsprout encounters and look for the shiny icon above the CP. Weepinbell and Victreebel have also been reported as shiny-capable in direct encounters, but their current routes are not established by official notices cited here. Encounter pools rotate, so check the game and current Pokémon GO announcements rather than relying on past event spawns.
How to find shiny Bellsprout now
- Check what is active in your area. Review the in-game Nearby and event listings for wild Pokémon, raids, and research encounters. Use current official Pokémon GO announcements to confirm which Pokémon an event features; a past event page cannot establish what is available today.
- Look for Bellsprout in eligible encounters. When Bellsprout appears in the wild or another currently listed encounter, tap it to open the encounter screen.
- Check for the shiny indicator. Niantic says a shiny Pokémon is a rare, differently colored variant and that its shiny icon appears above its CP on the encounter screen. Use the icon rather than color alone to confirm the encounter.
- Keep checking as encounters change. Niantic says shiny Pokémon may appear in wild encounters and some reward encounters, but the available routes depend on the Pokémon and event. Certain shiny forms are available only during specific events.
Niantic does not state a numeric shiny probability for this evolutionary line in the official sources cited here. Do not treat any encounter or event as a guaranteed shiny.
What past Bellsprout events show
Community Day: April 20, 2024
The official April 2024 Community Day announcement said Bellsprout appeared more frequently in the wild and could be shiny. The event ran Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2–5 p.m. local time. Afterward, four-star Weepinbell raids ran from 5–10 p.m. local time; winning a raid caused Bellsprout to appear near that Gym for 30 minutes. The announcement said those post-raid Bellsprout had the same shiny chance as Bellsprout encountered during Community Day hours, without publishing a numeric rate. These were event-specific mechanics, not current encounter instructions.
The event also let players evolve Weepinbell during the event or for five hours afterward to obtain Victreebel with Magical Leaf. That evolution bonus was limited to the 2024 event.

Can Weepinbell and Victreebel be shiny in direct encounters?
A secondary shiny-availability timeline reports direct shiny encounters for Victreebel beginning February 20, 2026, and Weepinbell beginning March 3, 2026. This supports that direct encounters have been reported, but does not establish that either Pokémon is currently available through wild spawns, raids, or research. Check the live game listings or a current official event notice before pursuing a specific route.
