There is no single fastest route to every Platinum Medal in Pokémon GO: each medal tracks a different achievement, and your best next target depends on your current counters and what you can do regularly. Open your Trainer Profile, select a medal to check its progress, then prioritize medals close to platinum and combine compatible actions—such as catching Pokémon that count toward both a general catch medal and one or more type medals.
What a Platinum Medal means—and where to check progress
Platinum is the highest of four medal milestones: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. The Pokémon GO Help Center explains that medals recognize achievements such as walking distance, visiting PokéStops, catching Pokémon, and other gameplay. To see your account’s progress, open your Trainer Profile and select a medal. Use the in-game counter as your starting point rather than assuming you are beginning from zero.

How to choose your next medal
- Check your counters. Find medals that are close to their platinum milestone; the remaining gap matters more than a medal’s headline target.
- Match the task to your routine. Consider how often you can make progress through your usual play, and whether the goal depends on a particular location, friends, gyms, or rotating content.
- Look for overlap. A catch can advance Collector and, when the Pokémon has a relevant type, the corresponding type medal or medals. PokéStop visits advance Backpacker. Walking can advance Jogger while distance tracking may also contribute to Egg hatching.
- Pick one main goal and compatible side goals. Track the counters you are actually trying to move. These are planning principles based on the listed medal actions, not a tested ranking of medal speeds.
One session can be productive for more than one medal, but the best combination depends on your available Pokémon, location, play habits, and current game conditions. Do not assume an event bonus or a particular medal will be fastest without checking what is active and what your account still needs.
Platinum target examples: spot the scale of each grind
The following targets are examples from Serebii’s medal reference, not an exhaustive or official in-game roster. Medal availability and your live progress should be checked in Pokémon GO; reference tables can lag updates.

| Medal or group | Listed platinum target | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Jogger | 10,000 km walked | Distance is a long-term counter; walking may also support Egg hatching. |
| Collector | 50,000 Pokémon caught | Pair catches with type medals when the Pokémon’s type qualifies. |
| 18 type-specific medals | 2,500 catches of the relevant type for each medal | Progress depends on the types available to catch in your current conditions. |
| Scientist | 2,000 Pokémon evolved | Track evolution progress separately from catch goals. |
| Breeder | 2,500 Eggs hatched | Hatching depends on distance and Egg availability. |
| Backpacker | 50,000 PokéStops visited | Access to stops and how often you play near them affect your pace. |
| Battle Girl | 4,000 Gym battles won | Requires opportunities to battle at Gyms. |
| Gym Leader | 15,000 hours defending Gyms | Depends on placing Pokémon in Gyms and how long they remain defending. |
| Berry Master | 15,000 Berries fed in Gyms | Requires Gym access and feeding opportunities. |
| Champion; Legendary Pokémon | 2,000 wins for each medal | These are separate medal counters; check their in-game descriptions for the tracked activity. |
| Pokémon Ranger | 2,500 Research Tasks | Progress depends on completing available tasks. |
| Idol | 20 best-friend achievements | Requires friend interaction and reaching the relevant milestone. |
| Gentleman | 2,500 trades | Requires trading opportunities with other Trainers. |
| Pilot | 10,000,000 km accumulated across traded Pokémon | The listed target is accumulated trade distance, not walking distance. |
| Ace Trainer | 2,000 training battles | Requires training battles. |
| Great, Ultra, and Master League Veteran | 1,000 wins for each medal | Each league has its own counter. |
| Hero | 2,000 Team GO Rocket Grunts defeated | Progress requires Rocket Grunt encounters and wins. |
| Ultra Hero | 50 Giovanni defeats | Availability depends on opportunities to encounter Giovanni. |
| Purifier | 1,000 Shadow Pokémon purified | Progress depends on acquiring eligible Shadow Pokémon. |
| Mega Evolution Guru | 46 unique Mega-Evolved Pokémon | The target concerns unique Pokémon, not simply repeating one evolution. |
| Successor | 1,000 Mega Evolutions | This is a separate repeated-action target. |
| Rising Star | 150 different raid species | Requires raids featuring species not yet counted for the medal. |
| Rising Star Duo | 2,000 raids won with a friend | Requires both raid opportunities and a friend to participate. |
| Triathlete | 100 seven-day catch or PokéStop streaks | Requires completing the relevant streak activity across 100 seven-day streaks. |
Large targets such as 10,000 km walked, 50,000 Pokémon caught, and 50,000 PokéStops visited illustrate why “fast” varies so much by account. The official Help Center establishes medal tiers and profile navigation; the figures in this table come from a secondary reference, so verify the specific medal and counter in your game.
Can an accessory help?
Pokémon Support says the Poké Ball Plus can connect to a smartphone, catch Pokémon, spin PokéStops, and measure travel distance for Egg hatching and Buddy Candy. Those features may support some catch-, stop-, and distance-related routines, but the accessory is optional and does not bypass medal requirements. Pokémon Support also says it has no Raid Battle functionality, so it does not cover every medal category.

Use the game as the final check
Medal targets and the actions they count differ substantially. Use the Trainer Profile’s medal counters to confirm current progress and the in-game medal details to validate what counts before committing to a long grind. The thresholds above are useful planning examples, not a promise of how long a goal will take or a universal ranking of easiest medals.
