Wurmple needs 12 Wurmple Candy, but its first evolution is random: it becomes either Silcoon or Cascoon, with no known way to choose the branch. Check each Pokémon’s details page in Pokémon Go before evolving, since event conditions can change requirements.
Feebas to Milotic: walk 20 km and collect 100 Candy
- Choose the Feebas you want to evolve. Open its details page and set it as your Buddy.
- Walk until its evolution task reaches 20 km. The distance applies to the specific Feebas you plan to evolve.
- Get 100 Feebas Candy. Catching Feebas and other available in-game sources can help you reach the separate Candy requirement.
- Check the Feebas details page and evolve. Niantic says species-specific tasks appear on a Pokémon’s details page, and the evolution option becomes available once its requirements are met. See Niantic’s Pokémon evolution help.
Buddy walking can also earn Candy, but that is separate from Feebas’s 20 km evolution task. The official Buddy Adventure guide explains Candy-earning walking distances and says Poffins halve the distance needed to earn Buddy Candy. It does not say that a Poffin reduces Feebas’s 20 km evolution requirement, so do not count on it doing so.
Wurmple to Silcoon or Cascoon: spend 12 Candy
- Collect 12 Wurmple Candy.
- Select Wurmple and tap Evolve. Its first evolution randomly becomes either Silcoon or Cascoon; the player cannot select which.
- To complete the family, evolve additional Wurmple until you have both branches. Silcoon evolves into Beautifly, while Cascoon evolves into Dustox; each second-stage evolution has its own Candy cost.
The cited game-mechanics references describe Wurmple’s branch as random. They do not establish a player-controlled method using time of day, gender, CP, appraisal, or a name trick. See the Pokémon GO evolution-family list.

The figures for Feebas and Wurmple are documented by community-maintained mechanics references: Feebas and Wurmple. Niantic’s evolution guidance explains that some Pokémon have special requirements and directs players to the Pokémon details page to check them. For a live requirement, rely on the in-game page, especially after an event or update.
