Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIn a June 21, 2021 roundup, several Pokémon GO maps and communities offered different kinds of help—but none was established as a comprehensive global live Pokémon scanner. PogoMap showed map features such as PokéStops and Gyms; PokeHunter displayed participant-dependent sightings in selected U.S. cities; and The Silph Road connected players with local communities and reported sightings. These are historical descriptions, not confirmation that any service worked throughout 2021 or remains available today.
What “working” meant for Pokémon GO map trackers in 2021
A map showing persistent game locations was not necessarily a live Pokémon tracker. The 2021 roundup described three distinct kinds of information: map features, sightings submitted or enabled by local participants, and reports shared among players. A lack of sightings could mean a map was stale or lacked contributors, not that a Pokémon was absent.

The roundup also said broad real-time trackers no longer worked as they once had. It pointed to community reports, including Discord sightings, as a more likely source of individual Pokémon locations. That was a dated secondary-source account, not an uptime or accuracy measurement.
Trackers and map resources mentioned in the 2021 roundup
| Resource | What the June 21, 2021 roundup said it offered | Coverage and freshness |
|---|---|---|
| PogoMap | PokéStop and Gym information, Rocket Invasion activity, a spin-distance display, social-network connectivity, and Discord bot connectivity. | The roundup described features, but did not establish Pokémon sighting coverage or a measure of freshness. |
| PokeHunter | Localized Pokémon sightings. | Reported for selected cities in California, Minnesota, and Oregon; dependent on local contributors. Readers were advised to check whether their city was being updated. |
| A2 Pokémon GO Map | A map focused on Ann Arbor. | Ann Arbor-specific in the roundup; no wider coverage or freshness measure was established. |
| PokeMap/GO Map | A broader map system discussed by the roundup. | The article characterized it as heavily ad-supported; it did not verify present-day operation or coverage. |
| The Silph Road | A community and support resource connecting players with local Discord groups, where members reported sightings. | Reports came from players; the roundup did not establish them as authoritative game-server data or quantify how current they were. |
All service descriptions in this table are claims reported in the June 21, 2021 roundup, not guarantees of service operation for the whole year. It did not establish city-by-city coverage, uptime, user counts, or tracker accuracy.

How to decide whether a map could help in your area
- Check what the map displays. A map of Stops and Gyms can help with navigation, but it does not by itself reveal where wild Pokémon are.
- Look for recent local activity. For a contributor-dependent sightings map such as PokeHunter was described, check whether your city is covered and whether sightings are being updated. No recent reports are not proof that a Pokémon is not there.
- Treat community posts as reports. A Discord message or player-submitted sighting is useful local intelligence, not a verified or exhaustive feed from Niantic’s servers.
- Consider how the service gets its data. A service that scrapes game servers carries different account-policy risks from a community that shares players’ observations.
Are third-party Pokémon GO scanners safe to use?
Do not assume a scanner is safe or ban-proof. Niantic’s August 29, 2016 statement says add-on maps that scrape its servers violate the Terms of Service and may result in an account ban: Niantic’s account-ban update. Niantic also warned that some apps could collect and forward data without a player’s knowledge.
In an August 4, 2016 service update, Niantic said it blocked unauthorized access and scraping to protect server resources and service stability: Niantic’s service-maintenance update. That helps explain why scanner access can stop after service changes; it does not establish the status of any specific tracker.

Niantic’s current help guidance describes unauthorized third-party software or add-ons that access game clients or backends as cheating: Pokémon GO help: account suspensions and warnings. Enforcement depends on the case and current policy, so no third-party scanner can be promised to avoid strikes.

Do not confuse PokéStop Scan with a spawn map
PokéStop Scan is a separate, opt-in feature. Niantic introduced it in 2020 so Trainers could submit videos of real-world PokéStops and Gyms to support 3-D mapping and augmented-reality development; it is not designed to locate wild Pokémon. See Niantic’s PokéStop Scanning announcement.
