When was Porygon Community Day Classic?
The event ran Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Niantic said, “Porygon will appear more frequently in the wild.” Players also had a chance to encounter Shiny Porygon. Niantic’s event announcement gives the event timing and featured Pokémon.
How to get Tri Attack on Porygon-Z
Evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z during the event or within two hours after it ended: the deadline was 7 p.m. local time on January 20, 2024. The event announcement specified this two-hour window for Porygon-Z to learn Tri Attack. Niantic’s general Community Day help page describes a five-hour post-event evolution window, but that general rule does not replace the two-hour deadline stated for this particular event. Niantic listed Tri Attack as having 65 power in Trainer Battles, with a chance to lower the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and Defense, and 75 power in Gyms and raids. Those figures were included in the event announcement.

Event bonuses and research
Bonuses during the event
- 3× XP for catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules activated during the event lasted three hours.
- Incense activated during the event lasted three hours, excluding Daily Adventure Incense.
- Taking snapshots could produce a surprise encounter.
Research rewards
Timed Research was available from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time and awarded three Upgrades and three Sinnoh Stones. Themed Field Research could reward additional Porygon encounters, Stardust, Great Balls, and other items. These research windows and rewards were tied to the January 2024 event. How the 2024 Classic differed from the original Porygon Community Day
The original Porygon Community Day took place Sunday, September 20, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. The January 2024 Classic was three hours long, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Both events featured Tri Attack for Porygon-Z through an evolution window lasting up to two hours after the event. The dates and timings come from Niantic’s 2024 Classic announcement and 2020 event announcement.

Were the event tickets and shop bundles still available?
No current availability is established. Niantic’s January 2024 announcement listed a US$1 Special Research story and a $9.99 Community Day Classic Box containing 120 Ultra Balls, 15 Silver Pinap Berries, six Basic Incubators, and one Incense. It also listed two in-game bundles priced in PokéCoins. These were offers for the event period; the announcement does not establish that they remain available now.
