If Pokémon GO referral rewards are not tracking, first check the referral’s eligibility and redemption time, make sure both Trainers are Friends, then open the referred Trainer’s profile and claim each completed milestone manually. Niantic says eligible referrals are for new Trainers or returning Trainers inactive for at least 90 days; the code must be redeemed within 72 hours of account creation or login.
Check the referral’s eligibility and code deadline
Niantic’s referral instructions say the referred Trainer must be new or must not have been active within the previous 90 days. The referral code must be redeemed within 72 hours of creating the account or logging in.

If the referred player skipped the referral prompt at initial login, Niantic says they can still redeem the code from Invite in the Friend List, provided they are within that 72-hour window.
Make sure the players are connected as Friends
Redeeming the code is not enough by itself: the two Trainers need to be connected as Friends for referral milestones to be claimed. A full Friend List can prevent the connection and block both players from claiming referral rewards. If the list is full, remove a Friend, then add the referred Trainer.
#1 Best Overall
- The packaging is Japanese, but item works the same as the US version.
- Catch Pokémon and track your rest rhythm with the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory!
- Keep track of your sleep with the press of a button
- Press and hold the central button on the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory and place it by your pillow to track your rest rhythm on the Pokémon Sleep app
- There’s a Pikachu within your Pokémon GO Plus + that can sing you lullabies and act as your morning alarm; Pikachu grows friendlier the more you sleep, unlocking even more sounds!
Find progress and claim completed milestones
- Open the Friend List and select the referred player.
- Open that Trainer’s profile to view referral milestone progress.
- Tap each completed milestone to claim its reward.
Milestone rewards do not automatically appear in the Item Bag; each completed reward must be claimed from the referred player’s Trainer Profile.
Referral flow for each player
For the referring Trainer
- From Map View, open Trainer Profile.
- Select Friends, then Invite.
- Share or copy your personal referral code for the referred Trainer.
For a new or returning Trainer
- During signup or login, select “Have a Referral Code?” and follow the prompts.
- If the prompt was missed, use Invite from the Friend List to redeem the code within 72 hours of account creation or login.
- After redemption, confirm the friend joined or rejoined through the referral, then connect as Friends.
If rewards still do not track
Work through the documented checks in order: confirm the referred Trainer meets the eligibility rule, verify the code was redeemed within the deadline, ensure the Friends connection exists, and check the referred Trainer’s profile for milestones to claim. Niantic’s instructions do not specify another recovery procedure or explain failures that persist after all these conditions are met, so a further fix cannot be confirmed from the documented guidance.
