Use Fire-, Fighting-, or Ground-type attacks against Registeel, a pure Steel-type five-star raid boss. Pokémon GO Hub’s August 2026 guide recommends four to six Trainers for a more comfortable raid; a trio can try with strong, well-prepared teams. The guide lists a catch range of 1,326–1,398 CP without a weather boost and 1,658–1,748 CP in Snow.
What to use against Registeel
Registeel is weak to Fighting-, Fire-, and Ground-type attacks. Prioritize attackers with moves of those types, then consider how much damage they can deal and whether they can withstand the boss’s charged attacks. A Pokémon listed as a counter is less useful if its moves do not hit a weakness or it faints too quickly.

Pokémon GO Hub’s August 26, 2026 Registeel Raid Guide names these examples:
- Mega Mewtwo X: Counter and Focus Blast.
- Mega Lucario: Force Palm and Aura Sphere.
- Mega Blaziken: Fire Spin and Aura Sphere.
- Mega Delphox: Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
These are examples from that guide, not a permanent ranking or a guarantee of the best available team. Rankings depend on the simulation, move availability, and team conditions; use the strongest suitable attackers you already have.

Account for the boss’s moves
The guide lists Metal Claw, Rock Smash, and Lock-On as Registeel’s fast moves, and Flash Cannon, Focus Blast, Zap Cannon, and Hyper Beam as its charged moves. The charged move affects which attackers take damage, so a lineup with several strong super-effective options is generally more adaptable than relying on one fragile counter.
How many Trainers do you need?
Plan on four to six Trainers for a more comfortable attempt, following Pokémon GO Hub’s recommendation. The guide also notes that a trio can attempt the raid. Its counter page gives three as a simulated minimum and four to seven as optimal, but these are estimates rather than guaranteed outcomes. Team strength, move choices, bonuses, and execution all affect whether a group wins.

During the battle, swipe left or right to dodge the Raid Boss’s charged attacks. Niantic says this reduces the damage your Pokémon takes and can help them stay in the fight longer. Niantic also notes that using a Mega-Evolved Pokémon provides special bonuses to you and other Trainers. See the Pokémon GO Help Center article on defeating a Raid Boss.
