It featured boosted wild encounters, a 2 km Egg pool, event research and bonuses; Gigantamax Rillaboom appeared in six-star Max Battles during the event’s first weekend. This guide records what was available at the time, not what is currently active.
When did Serene Retreat run?
The global event ran from Friday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. through Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time, according to the official Pokémon GO announcement. The event coincided with Pokémon GO Fest: Osaka. Its limited-time bonuses, research and offers expired with the event.

Which Pokémon appeared, and what was in the Egg pool?
Wild encounters
Chansey, Marill, Furfrou, Cutiefly, Morelull, Komala and Hatenna appeared more frequently in the wild. Trainers could also encounter Snorlax and Chimecho, though these were described as possible additional encounters rather than part of the boosted list.
2 km Eggs
Eggs obtained during the event could hatch Chingling, Munna, Spritzee or Swirlix. These were event Egg-pool species; the announcement did not state that all four had increased shiny chances.

Featured shiny chances
The official announcement said the chance to hatch Shiny Munna and to encounter Shiny Munna from research task rewards was increased. It also said the chance to encounter Shiny Morelull in the wild and from research task rewards was increased. No numeric odds were published, and the boosts did not apply to every Pokémon listed above.
What were the event bonuses?
All players had these event bonuses:
- Half Egg Hatch Distance.
- 1.5× Hatch XP.
- An increased Max Particle collection limit of 1,600.
- Eight times as many Max Particles from Power Spots.
Players with a Serene Retreat ticket also received 1.5× Hatch Stardust. The Stardust multiplier was ticket-only; it was not part of the general event bonuses.

When could players battle Gigantamax Rillaboom?
Gigantamax Rillaboom made its Pokémon GO Gigantamax debut in six-star Max Battles from Saturday, May 31, at 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time. That window was shorter than the overall event, so it was a weekend feature, not an encounter available through the full event.
Pokémon GO Hub described Gigantamax Rillaboom as a strong Max Battle addition and highlighted Marill Candy for building Azumarill for Great League. These are the guide publisher’s gameplay assessments, not official rankings or guarantees of how a Pokémon will perform for every player.

The official announcement confirmed event-themed Collection Challenges with encounter rewards. The challenge names and specific requirements below were reported by the secondary guide Pokémon GO Hub:

These were reported possible rewards, not a guarantee that a particular task would give a chosen species.

Optional Timed Research
The optional Timed Research cost US$1.99 in the United States, or the equivalent local pricing tier. The official announcement said it offered Munna and Morelull encounters and two Super Incubators. Players had to complete the tasks and claim rewards by Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time; it is no longer available.

Pokémon GO Hub reported that the task sequence involved catching Pokémon, using Berries, transferring Pokémon and spinning PokéStops. The official announcement described the research as focused on exploration and catching.
Historical Web Store ticket box
A Serene Retreat Ultra Ticket Box was offered through the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$1.99, or local equivalent. The official announcement said it started May 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. PDT and included an event ticket plus five Ultra Balls at no additional cost. This was a historical offer, not a current purchase option.
Was an accessory required?
No accessory was required to take part. For players who already own one, the Poké Ball Plus can connect to a smartphone and Pokémon GO to catch Pokémon and collect items from PokéStops. Pokémon Support also says it measures travel distance while connected, which can count toward Egg hatching and Buddy Candy. It has no Raid Battle functionality, so it is not a tool for fighting Gigantamax Rillaboom in Max Battles.
