Niantic’s policy says it can restrict or suspend an account and, for continued cheating, permanently terminate it. The official sources cited here do not verify which third-party spoofing apps currently work on iOS or Android, or establish a safe or undetectable method. The title’s “2024” date is historical; this guide focuses on what the policy and support information establish as of October 2026.
Does Pokémon GO allow location spoofing?
No. The Pokémon GO Help Center’s Gameplay Fairness Policy explicitly defines falsifying location—including GPS location spoofing—as cheating. It also identifies unauthorized access to game clients or backends, including through third-party software or add-ons, as cheating.

A separate terms-violation help page lists falsifying location, emulators, modified or unofficial software, and unauthorized third-party access among conduct that can lead to action. The policy applies whether you play on iPhone or Android.
What can happen to your account?
Niantic describes an escalating enforcement process for continued cheating, but warns that some misconduct may lead to immediate termination. Its published sequence is:

These are policy descriptions, not a guarantee that every case receives all three steps. The Gameplay Fairness Policy says some misbehavior may result in immediate termination without prior warning. If you believe your account was terminated in error, you can submit an appeal through the web form; the policy cautions that very few terminations are overturned.
Are spoofers safe on iPhone or Android?
The official sources cited here do not establish which third-party spoofers currently function on either platform, whether they work with current iOS or Android versions, or whether they avoid enforcement. They therefore cannot support a recommendation for a particular app or any claim that spoofing is safe or undetectable. An app’s own marketing does not change the game’s policy.

Pokémon Support’s Pokémon GO Plus FAQ gives older baseline requirements for ordinary gameplay: iOS 12 or later with iPhone 6s or later, or Android 6 or later. The page was updated in January 2026, so those baselines should not be treated as the latest compatibility list. It says GPS and Location Services must be enabled and that jailbroken iOS devices and rooted Android devices are unsupported for normal Pokémon GO use.
What can you use instead?
Play with your phone’s normal location services
Use Pokémon GO with GPS and Location Services enabled, as described in Pokémon Support’s FAQ. This keeps play within the ordinary app setup; it is not a way to change or falsify your location.

Consider Pokémon GO Plus + for supported play
Pokémon Support says Pokémon GO Plus + was released in 2023 and directs players to separate help for the device. It is an accessory for legitimate play, not a spoofer or a way to play remotely: a smartphone with the Pokémon GO app is still required. The FAQ’s general Pokémon GO Plus pairing information does not certify third-party spoofing compatibility or any method as safe.

Check the account message and the official “I think my account is banned” help page for account-status guidance. If you believe a termination was a mistake, use the appeal route described in Niantic’s Gameplay Fairness Policy; an appeal is available, but the policy says very few terminations are overturned.
