Pokémon TCG Pocket’s widely reported “$12 million since launch” figure was an early estimate, not a current lifetime total. MobileSyrup reported that analytics firm AppMagic estimated the game earned US$12.1 million in roughly its first four days after its October 30, 2024 global launch.
What the $12 million report actually measured
The headline rounded AppMagic’s US$12.1 million estimate for the game’s first few days. Nintendo Life described the figure as about US$12 million over the first four days, or roughly US$3 million per day. That daily average describes only the brief launch window; it should not be read as a continuing rate.
The figure was reported in November 2024 and does not answer how much Pokémon TCG Pocket has earned cumulatively since then. The Pokémon Company and DeNA did not disclose this revenue figure; it was attributed to AppMagic, a third-party analytics firm. MobileSyrup’s report does not explain AppMagic’s underlying methodology, complete market coverage, or whether the estimate is gross or net of app-store fees.
Where the early estimate said spending came from
MobileSyrup’s account of AppMagic’s estimate reported that Japan represented 45% of earnings and the United States 25%. It also said iOS spending accounted for US$10.5 million of the US$12.1 million estimate. These are reported breakdowns of the same short launch-period estimate, not independently confirmed company figures.

The article also noted more than 12 million downloads at that point. That early figure is distinct from DeNA’s later official download milestone and should not be mistaken for the game’s current download count.
How later first-year estimates differ
For a longer-term point of comparison, Sensor Tower estimated that Pokémon TCG Pocket exceeded 90 million downloads and US$1.2 billion in revenue during its first year. Sensor Tower says its Intelligence revenue estimates cover iOS and Google Play in-app purchases and exclude advertising, direct-to-consumer sales, and other revenue sources. This is a separate analytics estimate with a different time period and stated scope; it does not validate AppMagic’s first-days figure.

What the official announcements establish
The Pokémon Company announced the smartphone release on October 30, 2024, saying the global launch offered cards in nine languages. On December 12, 2024, DeNA and The Pokémon Company announced that the game had surpassed 60 million downloads since its global launch. DeNA described it as a free-to-start iOS and Android app that reimagines collecting Pokémon TCG cards in digital form. These official announcements provide release and download context, but they do not disclose revenue.
