Pokémon GO’s Sweet Discoveries event ran from April 24 to April 29, 2025, and has ended. It introduced Applin, Flapple and Appletun, with two apple-based evolution paths. This retrospective guide covers the event’s dates, mechanics, Pokémon and rewards; its research and ticket offers are no longer claimable.
When was the Sweet Discoveries event?
Sweet Discoveries ran from Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. through Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time, according to the official Pokémon GO announcement. Its event bonuses and timed research ended with the event.
How to evolve Applin into Flapple or Appletun
Applin, Flapple and Appletun made their Pokémon GO debuts during Sweet Discoveries. Both evolutions require 200 Applin Candy, but the apple requirement differs:

How apples worked during the event
Apples could appear in the wild, though the announcement described finding them as a matter of luck. Tapping an apple could award Sweet Apples, Tart Apples or a Pokémon encounter, with Applin among the possible encounters. Apples had an increased chance to appear at Mossy Lure Modules. The event announcement did not specify a guaranteed yield or a numerical appearance rate.

Which Pokémon appeared during Sweet Discoveries?
Wild encounters
The event announcement listed these Pokémon as appearing more frequently in the wild:
- Alolan Rattata
- Abra
- Bellsprout
- Delibird
- Gulpin
- Bidoof
- Munna
- Bounsweet
- Skwovet
Snorlax, Shuckle, Komala and Applin were also named as possible encounters. Applin could be encountered by tapping apples.

7 km Eggs
Sweet Discoveries’ 7 km Egg pool included Delibird, Cherubi, Munchlax and Skwovet. Each had a chance to hatch shiny; the announcement did not publish odds.
What bonuses and research were available?
The event’s listed bonuses were:
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Increased chances of encountering Shiny Delibird and Shiny Skwovet.
- Increased chances of hatching Shiny Delibird, Shiny Cherubi and Shiny Skwovet.
- Berries when catching Delibird or Skwovet.
- Increased apple appearances at Mossy Lure Modules.
- Half Egg hatch distance for the first three Eggs hatched using the Pokémon GO Egg hatching widget.
The announcement did not give numerical shiny odds, so “increased chance” did not mean a guaranteed shiny.

Field Research could award Stardust and event-themed Pokémon encounters. Free Timed Research offered one Mossy Lure Module, one Tart Apple, one Sweet Apple and event-themed encounters. Tasks had to be completed and rewards claimed by April 29, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time; those rewards can no longer be claimed.

The announcement listed event-exclusive paid Timed Research for US$1.99 or the equivalent local pricing tier. Its rewards included two Mossy Lure Modules and event-themed encounters, including Delibird, Skwovet and Applin. The Web Store Sweet Discoveries Ultra Ticket Box was also listed at US$1.99 or local equivalent and included an event ticket plus five bonus Ultra Balls. Both were historical offers and are no longer available through the event.

The in-game shop also offered the Applin Headband and Applin Apron avatar items, which the announcement said would remain available after the event. They are digital avatar items, not physical merchandise.
