Pokémon GO Tour Pass points move you through a limited-time reward track. You can earn them through regular gameplay activities and Pass Tasks, while the rewards, rank requirements, limits, and deadlines depend on the specific event. Basic and Deluxe tracks progress together; buying Deluxe can unlock its rewards for ranks you have already reached.
How Tour Pass points and ranks work
Niantic describes a GO Pass as a reward system that runs for a set period. As you earn Pass Points, you advance through ranks and unlock the rewards attached to those ranks. The activities that award points and the number needed to rank up can vary by pass.

There are two earning routes:
- Regular gameplay activities: Depending on the event, actions such as catching Pokémon, hatching Eggs, or participating in raids can earn points. These points are tracked automatically and count toward both the Basic and Deluxe tracks.
- Pass Tasks: Event-specific tasks award points when completed. Tasks may appear on different schedules, such as daily or hourly, and are separate from points earned through regular activities.
Niantic’s Help Center says players can earn up to 250 points per day from daily activities. Once that activity cap is reached, Daily or Weekly Pass Tasks can still award points; task points do not count toward the cap. A live event may remove the daily limit. What Basic and Deluxe include
The Basic Pass is free where an event offers it. Some events require a separate paid event ticket even to receive the Basic Pass. Deluxe is an optional in-game purchase and may offer additional or rarer rewards. Both tracks advance at the same time, so buying Deluxe during an active pass can unlock Deluxe rewards at ranks you have already reached on Basic. Niantic: What is the GO Pass?

2026 example: GO Pass: Road to Kalos
Road to Kalos illustrates how much event rules and rewards can differ. This pass ran from February 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. through March 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. local time. Basic was granted automatically. From February 23 through February 27, regular-activity points had a daily cap; on February 28 and March 1, the event removed the limit on points earned. How to judge a Deluxe upgrade
There is no universal value judgment: the reward mix and time available vary with each pass. Before upgrading, compare the event’s own Basic and Deluxe rewards and bonuses, whether a rank bundle is offered, how much time remains to earn points, and the deadline for claiming rewards. Because the tracks progress together, an upgrade can apply to ranks already reached, but it does not remove event deadlines or make one pass’s rewards representative of another.
