The event has ended. During the event, Tynamo appeared more often in the wild, and evolving Eelektrik by 10:00 p.m. local time earned an Eelektross with the Fast Attack Volt Switch.
What are Community Days?
Community Days are Pokémon GO events that spotlight a featured Pokémon and bring event-specific bonuses and activities. Niantic’s Community Day help page explains the event format. Tynamo’s July 2024 edition is a past event, not a currently scheduled Community Day.
When was Tynamo Community Day, and what was featured?
Niantic scheduled the event for Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Tynamo appeared more frequently in the wild, and Shiny Tynamo could be encountered. The Pokémon GO team announced: “We’re excited to announce that Tynamo, the EleFish Pokémon, will be featured during July Community Day!”
How long could you evolve Eelektrik for Volt Switch?
Players could evolve Eelektrik during the event or for up to five hours afterward—until 10:00 p.m. local time on July 21—to get an Eelektross that knew Volt Switch. Niantic listed Volt Switch at 12 power in Trainer Battles and 14 power in Gyms and raids in its 2024 announcement.

- Eggs placed in Incubators during the event required one-quarter of their usual hatch distance.
- Catching Pokémon awarded twice the Candy.
- Trainers level 31 and up had twice the chance to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules and Incense activated during the event lasted three hours. Daily Adventure Incense was excluded.
- Taking snapshots could trigger a surprise.
What continued after 5:00 p.m.?
Trade bonuses until 10:00 p.m.
From 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, Trainers could make one additional Special Trade, for a maximum of three that day, and trades cost 50% less Stardust. These later hours did not extend the main event’s catch and hatch bonuses.

Eelektrik four-star raids from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
After the main event, Eelektrik appeared in special four-star raids at Gyms. Winning a raid caused more Tynamo to appear around that Gym for 30 minutes. These raids required a Raid Pass or Premium Battle Pass; Remote Raid Passes were not allowed. The raid option therefore required being able to participate at the Gym rather than joining remotely.
What research and event offers were available?
Timed Research available from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time offered four Unova Stones. Field Research could award items such as Stardust and Great Balls, as well as additional Tynamo encounters.
Niantic’s event announcement also offered a Special Research story ticket for US$1.00 or the equivalent local price. A historical Web Store event box was listed at US$4.99 or equivalent local price and included 10 Ultra Balls, one Elite Charged TM, and one Special Research story ticket. These were offers for the 2024 event; the announcement does not establish that they are available now.
