Electric offered Pikachu Pop Star, Dynamax Toxtricity (Amped Form), and the Electric Expert medal; Poison offered Pikachu Rock Star, Dynamax Toxtricity (Low Key Form), and the Poison Pro medal. The choice is no longer available, so there is no current path to select.
What did the Electric and Poison paths give you?
The choice affected the encounter rewards and medal attached to the event’s exclusive branching Special Research:
| Path | Special Research encounter rewards | Medal for completing the Special Research |
|---|---|---|
| Electric | Pikachu Pop Star and Dynamax Toxtricity (Amped Form) | Electric Expert |
| Poison | Pikachu Rock Star and Dynamax Toxtricity (Low Key Form) | Poison Pro |
These were the path-specific rewards announced for ticket holders; the announcement does not establish that either branch was objectively better or stronger overall. Choose Electric if you preferred its listed encounters or medal, and Poison if you preferred the other set.
What happened to the bonuses after the event?
Completing the Special Research also unlocked daily type-focused Timed Research from November 25 through November 29, 2024. Its rewards included Lucky Eggs, Stardust, and Rare Candy. The selected type also dealt double damage in raids, Gym battles, and Max Battles, and Team GO Rocket balloons appeared more frequently. These were temporary post-event bonuses and have expired.

Who could make the choice, and can you still choose?
The branching story was exclusive to ticket holders for Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global, held November 23 and 24, 2024. It was a historical event decision, not an ongoing choice available in the game. The official announcement described its consequences as affecting Special Research reward encounters, the medal, and post-event bonuses: Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global event announcement.
