To receive the Hidden Ability Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble, transfer at least one Pokémon between Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield and Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch. Then claim the three Mystery Gifts in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. Both versions of HOME must use the same Nintendo Account. The distribution began June 2, 2020; its official page does not state an end date, so current availability is not guaranteed.
How to claim the three Pokémon
- Make a qualifying transfer. On Nintendo Switch, open Pokémon HOME and connect to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. Transfer one or more Pokémon between the game and the Switch version of HOME. No particular species is required. See the official event instructions.
- Use the same Nintendo Account. The Switch and mobile versions of Pokémon HOME must be linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Open the mobile app’s Gift Box. In Pokémon HOME on a compatible mobile device, tap the button at the bottom of the screen to open the menu, then select Mystery Gifts and Gift Box.
- Receive each gift. Select a Pokémon and tap Receive. Repeat for the other two. The Pokémon are deposited into your HOME Boxes after you claim them.
Which Pokémon and abilities do you get?
Each gift is level 5. The official event page lists these moves:

Who can receive the gifts?
The official distribution page says the offer began Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 6:00 a.m. PDT. It sets the qualifying action as transferring one or more Pokémon between Sword or Shield and Nintendo Switch HOME, then receiving the rewards as Mystery Gifts in mobile HOME. The page does not give an end date. Pokémon Support articles updated January 30, 2026 still describe the claim path and one-time rule, but that does not guarantee the distribution will remain available indefinitely.
The gifts are limited to one set per Pokémon HOME account, even if you own multiple copies of Sword or Shield. You need access to one of those games to make the qualifying transfer; the official instructions do not require buying both.

Troubleshooting: gifts missing from the Gift Box or HOME Boxes
The Pokémon are not in my HOME Boxes
They do not arrive in the Boxes automatically. Open the mobile app and check Mystery Gifts > Gift Box, then select each gift and tap Receive. Pokémon Support explains the claim process in its missing-gifts help article.
The Gift Box is empty
- Confirm that you transferred at least one Pokémon between Sword or Shield and Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch.
- Check that mobile HOME and Switch HOME are linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Open the Gift Box in the mobile version, not just the Switch app.
These are the prerequisites and claim route given by the official distribution page.

I received a gift but traded it away or released it
The distribution cannot be repeated for that HOME account. Pokémon Support says each gift set is issued only once, so a lost Pokémon cannot be claimed again. See Pokémon Support’s explanation.
I have more than one Sword or Shield game
Multiple game copies do not provide extra gift sets: the limit is one set per Pokémon HOME account.
