Pokémon HOME’s mobile app offers four ways to trade: Wonder Box for an automatic trade, GTS to request a specific Pokémon, Room Trade for a group, and Friend Trade with someone on your Pokémon HOME friends list. Pick the method that fits who you want to trade with and how much control you need over the Pokémon you receive.
Choose the right Pokémon HOME trading method

These are the four mobile trading methods described by Pokémon Support. The Premium Plan condition applies to creating Room Trade rooms; it is not stated as a general requirement for all four trading methods.
How to trade with a friend

Open Pokémon HOME on your mobile device.

Go to Your Room > Friends > Add Friend, then add the other Trainer to your Pokémon HOME friends list. The other person must also be using the HOME friend list for Friend Trade.

Use Friend Trade to trade with that HOME friend.
Your Pokémon HOME friends list is separate from your Nintendo Switch friends list. Adding someone as a Switch friend does not automatically add them in HOME; Pokémon Support documents the mobile friend-list steps here.

If trading or adding friends is unavailable
Account-age restrictions may limit trading or the ability to add friends. Pokémon Support says availability is determined when Pokémon HOME is installed and those settings cannot be changed afterward. See its trading and friend restrictions guidance if an option is missing.
Can family members trade in Pokémon HOME?
Yes. Pokémon Support says family members can trade using the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME. That is distinct from Friend Trade’s mobile workflow, which uses Pokémon HOME’s own friends list. Before moving Pokémon between games, check the transfer direction: some Pokémon moved to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield cannot then be moved back to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, even if they were originally caught in one of those games. Mobile device compatibility
Pokémon Support lists iOS 16 or later and Android 9.0 or later (64-bit) as minimum requirements. The page says these requirements were last updated October 17, 2024, and warns that compatibility is not guaranteed on every device that meets them.
