Space-Time Distortions are random field events in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. After defeating Kleavor and reaching the Crimson Mirelands, you can wait for one to form, then head to its map marker to find region-specific Pokémon and pick up items before the event fades. There is no manual trigger; staying in the area and avoiding pauses gives the event time to occur.
How Space-Time Distortions appear
Once you have defeated Kleavor and gained access to the Crimson Mirelands, a distortion may begin forming while you are out in an area. Its location and formation progress appear on the map. The event is random: the listed percentages below are cumulative chances, not separate guaranteed rolls at each interval.
| Time spent in the area | Cumulative standard chance |
|---|---|
| 5 minutes | 10% |
| 10 minutes | 30% |
| 15 minutes | 50% |
| 25 minutes | 75% |
| 40 minutes | 100% |
These are the standard timing values listed by Serebii’s Space-Time Distortion guide. Battling and opening menus pause the timer. Resting or leaving the area can reset progress, and severe weather—including intense sun, snowstorms, and thunderstorms—can block a scheduled appearance, according to Bulbapedia’s mechanics overview.
What to do while one is forming
A map marker means the distortion is forming, not that it is ready to explore. Continue spending time in the field and watch the marker’s progress; the event’s altered Pokémon activity and item drops begin once it fully forms.

- When it is active, prioritize rare Pokémon spawns and useful ground items before the distortion fades.
Which Pokémon appear in each region?
Distortion encounters vary by region. Each event has three designated rare spawn points that can each produce one rare Pokémon; other groups of up to three Pokémon appear and can recur. The rare species are possibilities, not guaranteed encounters in every event. Pokémon inside are aggressive, and unattended spawns may disappear after a short time.
| Target | Region to visit | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Porygon and its evolutions | Crimson Mirelands | Possible rare regional spawns; not guaranteed in each distortion. |
| Cranidos and Shieldon, including their fossil lines | Coronet Highlands | Possible rare regional spawns; not guaranteed in each distortion. |
| Starter species | The region listed for the species in Serebii’s regional table | Rare starter appearances are story-gated. |
For other targets, check the complete regional encounter listings in Serebii’s regional tables before choosing where to wait. Getting to the right region is more useful than waiting in a random area when you are hunting a specific species.

- This game comes in UK packaging, but it is region-free and compatible with all Nintendo Switch consoles worldwide.
Rare items found in distortions
Ground pickups can include evolution items and valuable sellable items. Examples listed by Serebii include Linking Cord, evolution stones, Upgrade, Dubious Disc, Magmarizer, shards, and Nuggets. These are possible finds, not a fixed bundle or a guarantee that every event contains a particular item.
If you are hunting an evolution item, pick up items as you move between rare spawn points. If you want valuable pickups such as Nuggets or shards, scan the ground throughout the event rather than focusing only on Pokémon. The Serebii item listing identifies items associated with Space-Time Distortions.

How to make the most of the event window
- Pick your region for a reason: use the regional table to match the area to your Pokémon target.
- Keep the timer moving: minimize battles and menu time while waiting; both pause the event timer.
- Act as soon as it fully forms: head to the marker and check the designated rare spawn points promptly.
- Collect as you go: pick up useful items before the event ends rather than expecting them to remain afterward.
