Pokémon Legends: Z-A is already available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The launch offers many players remember have expired: the Ralts and 100 Poké Balls promotions are no longer claimable. A 100 Ultra Balls code has been announced for buyers of a new Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle, but that bundle is scheduled for October 29, 2026—not available as of October 8, 2026. Here’s what players can claim, where to redeem gifts, which starter suits a flexible early game, and where to find the type chart.
What are the current Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mystery Gift codes?
No currently claimable code is verified here. The known launch offers have expired, while the next announced bonus is tied to a bundle that has not yet released. Because active distributions can vary by region and channel, check the official Pokémon distribution listings before assuming there are no other gifts available.

The Pokémon Company says the upcoming Ultra Balls code becomes accessible after approximately one hour of play. That is a stated threshold for entering the code, not an indication that the bonus can be redeemed before the bundle’s scheduled release.
How to redeem a Mystery Gift
- Connect the game to the internet. Nintendo Support says an internet connection is required.
- Unlock Rewards in Mable’s Research. Nintendo estimates that reaching this point takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of play.
- Press X to open the menu, select Link Play, then select Mystery Gift.
- Choose Get via Internet for an internet distribution, or Get with Code/Password to enter a serial code.
The game saves automatically after you receive a gift. For a code that fails, check its stated expiry and eligibility, and confirm that you selected the code/password option rather than the internet distribution option.

Which starter should you choose in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
The starters are Tepig, Totodile, and Chikorita. If flexible early attack coverage is your priority, Tepig is a reasonable pick: TechRadar’s launch guide recommends it for learning a range of early moves, including Fighting- and Rock-type coverage alongside its Fire type. That is a practical preference from one guide, not proof that Tepig is the objectively strongest choice over the full game.
| Starter | What the cited launch guide establishes | Best fit based on that evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Tepig | The guide highlights early move variety, including Fighting- and Rock-type coverage as well as Fire. | Players who value flexible attacks early. |
| Totodile | No comparative move-coverage case is established in the cited guide. | Players who prefer Totodile; the available evidence does not establish that it is a weaker long-term choice. |
| Chikorita | No comparative move-coverage case is established in the cited guide. | Players who prefer Chikorita; the available evidence does not establish that it is a weaker long-term choice. |
The game does not follow the familiar early Gym structure, according to TechRadar’s guide, so broad coverage against trainers can be useful. Choose based on the Pokémon you want to use; the cited evidence does not establish a mandatory starter or definitive best pick for the whole adventure.
Where is the Pokémon Legends: Z-A type chart?
Open Trainer Tips: press X to open the main menu, then press L to reach Trainer Tips. The chart uses symbols to show attacks that are super effective, not very effective, or have no effect. This route is more reliable than trying to reconstruct matchups from a partial transcription; the reviewed guide does not provide a complete, legible list of every type interaction.

What did early reviews say about Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
TechRadar’s Hamish Hector, Senior Staff Writer, reviewed the Nintendo Switch 2 version in October 2025. He praised its real-time battle approach, story focus, soundtrack, and exploration within a more constrained city setting. He also pointed to difficulty scaling, battle bugs, and limited variety in Lumiose City as drawbacks.
Hector reported 25 hours of play, including side quests and story, but had not reached the credits when writing. His comments offer substantial launch-era firsthand impressions, not a completed assessment of every part of the game.
“Legends: Z-A is easily the best Pokémon game I’ve played in years.”

What should players know about the game’s release and upcoming bundle?
Pokémon Legends: Z-A originally released October 16, 2025; the western North American release fell on October 15 because of time-zone differences. The official game site describes Lumiose City as the setting for an urban redevelopment plan intended to shape the city for people and Pokémon.
The Pokémon Company has announced a bundle containing Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the Mega Dimension DLC for October 29, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, it is still upcoming. Its 100 Ultra Balls serial-code bonus is relevant to prospective bundle buyers, but it should not be confused with an active gift for existing players.
