Use an interactive map to narrow down where to look for Pokémon, collectibles, missions, and services across Lumiose City, then use the game’s own map and fast travel to reach them. Gamer Guides and Shackmaps offer different provider-described marker categories; neither feature list independently confirms that every marker is accurate or complete.
What an interactive map can help you find
Pokémon Legends: Z-A takes place in Lumiose City during an urban redevelopment plan. Nintendo describes Lumiose as the largest city in the Kalos region, so an external map can make it easier to focus a search on a particular district, activity, or item rather than wander without a target. The Pokémon Company’s game page and Nintendo’s product page describe the setting.

Interactive maps are reference tools, not in-game maps or proof that a location has been checked. Their providers describe the available markers and controls; compare those options against what you are trying to find.
Which Pokémon Legends: Z-A map should you use?
| Map | Provider-described coverage and tools | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Gamer Guides | Advertises day, night, and dungeon layers; regular and Alpha Pokémon; ladders, bridges, and holovators; main and side missions; Wild Zones; Poké Balls, TMs, Colorful Screws, benches, vendors, treasure, and other markers. It also describes marker details, screenshots, and progress tracking. The page displays 2.5k markers, a changing product-page figure attributed to Gamer Guides in 2025, not an independently audited count. | Useful if time or dungeon layers, navigation structures, marker descriptions, screenshots, or progress tracking matter to your search. |
| Shackmaps | Describes markers for Pokémon, Wild Zones, Colorful Screws, clothing stores, cafes, TMs, Mega Stones, side missions, and additional locations. The listed features do not state whether it offers day/night or dungeon layers, directions, screenshots, or progress tracking. | Useful if its listed categories include the Pokémon, collectible, or service you want to locate. |
These are provider-described feature lists, not a tested comparison of accuracy or completeness. Before relying on a map for a particular item, check that it has an explicit marker for that item and the layer controls you need.

How to search efficiently
- Pick a target. Decide whether you are looking for a Pokémon, Wild Zone, mission, collectible, shop, or navigation point. A specific target makes it easier to judge whether a map’s categories match your task.
- Choose the relevant layer or category. On Gamer Guides, the provider describes day, night, and dungeon layers as well as a wide range of marker types. Shackmaps lists its own categories; use the ones it provides rather than assuming both maps offer identical controls.
- Check the marker details. Where available, use descriptions or screenshots to understand what a marker represents before setting off. A marker listing is a lead, not independent confirmation that the item is present or that the map is complete.
- Use the in-game map to travel. Nintendo says Pokémon Centers register as fast-travel locations as you explore, while taxis can take you to places you have not visited. Its advice is: “Fast travel is your friend!” Read Nintendo’s official tips for these navigation details.
- Revisit a search when the conditions change. If you are searching with a day/night distinction in mind, plan around the game’s time system rather than treating the external map layer as a guarantee of what is currently available.
Why time and progression can change your route
Nintendo says benches can advance time once you have progressed far enough into the story. That makes a map offering separate day and night layers potentially useful for planning, but the external layer does not change the in-game time or verify an encounter. Check the game’s current conditions as well as the map category.
Some rewards are earned through gameplay requirements rather than found as map pickups. Nintendo says that after speaking with Mable at the Pokémon Research Lab, you can fulfill research requirements to receive TMs, then redeem rewards in the Mable’s Research menu. If a TM marker does not answer what you need, check whether the TM is instead tied to research rewards.

Find Pokémon without mistaking a printable for a location guide
Nintendo’s printable activity asks, “CAN YOU FIND THESE POKÉMON?” and includes a spot-the-Pokémon exercise. Its specified quantities—one Aegislash, one Chandelure, two Pikachu, two Floette, two Furfrou, two Budew, two Fletchinder, four Magikarp, four Swablu, and seven (and more!) Vivillon—belong to that activity. They are not a complete in-game Pokédex, encounter count, or set of map locations. View Nintendo’s printable activity.

The map advice applies to the game’s Lumiose City setting, but the console edition matters when you buy or launch it. Nintendo says the Switch 2 Edition is playable only on Nintendo Switch 2 and offers improved performance, including higher frame rate and resolution. A Switch 2 Edition game card inserted into a Nintendo Switch plays the Switch version without Switch 2-exclusive features. Existing Switch owners need the upgrade pack to access the Switch 2 Edition. Check Nintendo’s Australian product page for those edition details; availability and product listings may differ by region.
