The best way to shiny hunt in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC is to use a donut with Sparkling Power Level 3 in a Hyperspace Wild Zone. The first sufficiently nearby Pokémon that matches the donut’s type is reported to be guaranteed shiny. That guarantee is limited to a nearby matching spawn; it does not make every Pokémon in the zone shiny. For eligible matching wild encounters, RotomLabs’ game-data table reports odds of about 1 in 585.57 with both Level 3 Sparkling Power and the Shiny Charm.
How the Level 3 donut method works
Make a donut that grants Sparkling Power Level 3 for the type of Pokémon you want, then enter a Hyperspace Wild Zone. On entry, the first sufficiently nearby spawn of that type is reported to be forced shiny. The type match and proximity both matter: a Pokémon of another type does not qualify, and the guarantee is not a zone-wide effect.

The game’s “Catch a Shiny Pokémon” task can indicate that a nearby shiny is already present. It does not cause a shiny to spawn. If the task appears, search nearby for the Pokémon rather than treating the task itself as a spawn trigger.
What are the shiny odds with the Shiny Charm in Mega Dimension?
RotomLabs’ table, updated December 14, 2025 with Mega Dimension data credited to dataminer Anubis, reports these odds per eligible wild encounter. They are game-data calculations, not official rates published by Nintendo or The Pokémon Company, and they do not predict how many encounters a particular player will need.

Sparkling Power adds rolls only for Pokémon whose type matches the donut, and it applies in Hyperspace Distortions. The Level 3 nearby-spawn guarantee is a separate effect from these per-encounter odds: do not interpret the 1-in-585.57 figure as the chance for the first qualifying spawn that is guaranteed shiny.
Mable awards the Shiny Charm for completing all of her Research, according to RotomLabs. If you do not have it, Level 3 Sparkling Power still improves eligible encounter odds and retains the reported nearby-spawn guarantee.

How to choose a target and avoid shiny-locked encounters
The method is strongest for a target that appears as a nearby wild spawn in a Hyperspace Wild Zone and shares the donut’s type. RotomLabs reports that wild Pokémon, including wild Alphas, use the wild encounter rates. Check the target’s encounter type before spending berries: not every Pokémon can be shiny.
- Fossils: the reported odds remain 1 in 4,096, and the Shiny Charm does not improve them.
- Most static or scripted encounters: reported shiny-locked examples include starters, most Legendary and Mythical encounters, Rogue Mega encounters, NPC gifts, and scripted battles. Fixed Alpha spawns are distinguished from static encounters.
- Special scan Legendaries: Latios, Latias, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion are listed as shiny-eligible Hyperspace special scan encounters.
Manage berries before repeated hunts
A Nintendo Everything guide published December 22, 2025 recommends saving before crafting and using the game’s backup-save mechanism if a donut result is poor. It also advises waiting until after the DLC story, or until you can use eight berries per donut, before committing resources to repeated hunting. Those are that guide’s resource-management suggestions, not requirements for the Level 3 effect; check the current in-game prompts before following its button instructions.

What you need to access Mega Dimension
The Pokémon Company announced Mega Dimension on September 12, 2025 as additional story content that follows completion of the base game, continues on the same save data, and takes place in Hyperspace Lumiose through spatial distortions. Nintendo Support lists the DLC’s apparel items as available from October 16, 2025, and its additional story content—including Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Y—as available from December 9, 2025. The DLC works with both Pokémon Legends: Z-A and its Switch 2 Edition, but a copy of the base game must also be on the console.
