Pokémon Legends: Z-A is already out: it launched on October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo opened digital preorders on June 5, 2025, and physical preorders on July 23, 2025, so the old “starts next week” wording is no longer current. In the US, Nintendo lists the Switch game at $59.99, the Switch 2 Edition at $69.99, and the digital Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack at $9.99.

How much does it cost to upgrade the Switch version?
The Upgrade Pack is $9.99 in the US. If you already own the Switch version, adding the pack brings your game purchase and upgrade to $69.98 at Nintendo’s listed regular prices—one cent less than the $69.99 Switch 2 Edition. That comparison is most relevant if you own the Switch game and are moving to Switch 2; the pack is digital and cannot be played without both a Switch 2 console and the base game, physical or digital.

Nintendo describes the Switch 2 Edition as having “improved performance, enhanced resolution, and smoother frame rates.” The choice is therefore mainly about what copy you already own and whether you prefer a digital upgrade or purchasing the Switch 2 Edition. If you are buying the game and Switch 2 together, Nintendo lists a console-plus-game bundle at $499.99 in the US.
What is included in Mega Dimension?
Mega Dimension is a separate $29.99 US DLC purchase, not part of the $9.99 upgrade pack. It is compatible with either the Switch or Switch 2 Edition, but it requires the base game. Its story content requires completion of the main story. Nintendo Support lists the DLC story content, including Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, as available from December 9, 2025.
