Pokémon Legends: Z-A Version 2.0.0 was released on December 9, 2025—not newly today. It enabled the Mega Dimension DLC’s additional story for players who own the separately sold expansion. Nintendo’s support page lists Version 2.0.1, released January 21, 2026, as the latest update. The new forms are Mega Evolutions, not ordinary evolutionary stages.
What Version 2.0.0 added
Version 2.0.0 made the Mega Dimension DLC’s additional story content playable for DLC owners. Nintendo says players must complete the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A before progressing through the expansion’s story. The update notes summarize other changes only as “Several issues have been fixed”; they do not provide a detailed list of individual fixes. Nintendo’s update history and patch notes record Version 2.0.0’s release date and requirements.

You do not need to own the DLC to encounter or obtain Pokémon added through Mega Dimension: Nintendo says players without it can do so through communication features. That is separate from access to the DLC’s story.
What the Mega Dimension DLC is about
The expansion continues the Lumiose City journey after the base game’s main story. Spatial distortions appear across the city and connect to a mysterious space, prompting Team MZ to investigate. Hoopa is among the featured Pokémon. The Pokémon Company describes the expansion as additional story content to experience after completing the main story. New Mega Evolutions named by the official sources
The DLC page features Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, which require different Mega Stones, as well as Mega Chimecho, Mega Baxcalibur, Mega Zeraora, Mega Lucario Z, and Mega Garchomp Z.
Nintendo separately announced Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja. Their Mega Stones are promotion rewards in online Z-A Battle Club Ranked Battles, not a general DLC unlock. Nintendo says the stones are not normally obtainable through regular gameplay and may be redistributed in future seasons. Online features require a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership, and availability varies by country. Nintendo’s announcement of the Ranked Battle Mega Stone rewards has the details.

Version 2.0.1 is the later update
Nintendo’s support page lists Version 2.0.1, released January 21, 2026, as the latest update. It adds bulk Berry purchases at food stalls, Berry purchases at Nouveau Café’s Truck No. 3 after starting the DLC story, and increases the Mega Shard carry limit from 999 to 9,999. It also fixes several listed DLC issues, including weather and Mega Evolution Pokédex registration problems. Consult Nintendo’s update notes for the full version history.

Mega Dimension is sold separately. The Pokémon Company announced a physical Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle for October 29, 2026, with both products on one game card. The announcement says existing Nintendo Switch 2 Edition owners need only buy the DLC separately. The Switch 2 Edition can run on the original Nintendo Switch, but Switch 2-specific features and content are not included on that system; there, the content matches the Nintendo Switch software. The announced bundle also includes a serial code for 100 Ultra Balls via Mystery Gift. These details and the scheduled date are in The Pokémon Company’s September 30, 2026 announcement.
