Pokémon Mystery Gift offers are redeemed differently depending on the game or service, and there is no universal expiration period. Check the official page for each offer: some codes have fixed deadlines, while others may have no stated expiry but still depend on network availability. In Pokémon HOME, gifts waiting in the Gift Box can also become unavailable after an unspecified period.
How Pokémon Mystery Gift works
Mystery Gift is a way to receive promotional Pokémon or items through a compatible game or Pokémon HOME. Depending on the title and offer, you may claim a distribution over the internet, enter a code or password, or use a local event option. The route, destination, and eligibility terms are offer-specific; instructions for one game should not be assumed to apply to another.
Before redeeming, check the promotion’s official page for the required game or service, how the gift is delivered, any progress requirement, claim limits, and all relevant dates. The distribution period and the deadline to redeem a code may be different dates.
How to redeem a Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME
Pokémon Support’s instructions, updated January 30, 2026, describe three ways to receive gifts in Pokémon HOME: checking for a local event, entering a code, or scanning a code pattern. Gifts go to the Gift Box first. From there, you can claim a gift into your Pokémon HOME Boxes or, when HOME displays a code for it, use that code through Mystery Gift in a compatible game.
#1 Best Overall
- 50+ Pokemon Cards
- 5 Holos Guaranteed minimium per order
- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
Enter a code in Pokémon HOME
- Open the menu in Pokémon HOME and select Mystery Gift.
- Select Code and enter the code.
- Retrieve the gift from the Gift Box.
Pokémon Support says HOME codes do not include the letters O, I, or Z. Treat that as a Pokémon HOME instruction, not a rule for every game or code format.
Claim or send a gift from the Gift Box
Open the Gift Box and select the gift you want to receive. Depending on the gift, you can claim it into HOME Boxes or use the displayed code to claim it in a compatible game. Pokémon Support cautions that gifts sent to the Gift Box become unavailable after “a certain period of time,” but does not give a fixed duration. Each gift can be received only once per save file, and a used code cannot be used again.

How to redeem a code in a Pokémon game
Menu paths vary by game. In an official Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet promotion, the steps were:
- Launch the game and open the X menu.
- Select Poké Portal, then Mystery Gift.
- Choose Get with Code/Password and connect to the internet.
- Enter the password and confirm the gift arrives in your party or Pokémon Boxes.
- Save the game.
The example above comes from the Revavroom promotion. Its password, TEAMSTAR, expired on October 31, 2024, so it is a historical example of the menu path, not a redeemable offer. The Pokémon Company International’s Revavroom instructions give the promotion-specific details.
Rank #3
- 50 assorted Pokemon cards
- Bundle with an LCC deck box that holds upto 100 Pokemon cards
- 1 Double rare legendary Pokemon card
Other games use different menus. For example, Pokémon Support’s instructions for Sword and Shield direct players to Mystery Gift, then Get a Mystery Gift, then Get with Code/Password. Its legacy Nintendo 3DS examples also include local wireless, internet, infrared, and code/password options, with a delivery person in a Pokémon Center in those examples. Follow the steps published for your exact title. See Pokémon Support’s promotion instructions.

There is no single expiry rule. A code may have a stated redemption deadline, an offer may have a separate distribution window, or a specific promotion may say its code does not expire. A gift waiting in Pokémon HOME’s Gift Box has its own availability caveat. Check the terms attached to the individual offer rather than relying on an old code list.

- Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Booster Bundle contains six booster packs from Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black.
- This is a great option for getting into the new Choas Rising expansion.
- A great gift for the Pokémon collector or player in your life.
| Official example | What its terms say | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlet and Violet Revavroom password TEAMSTAR | Expired October 31, 2024. The Pokémon Company International, 2023. | Illustrates a fixed deadline; it is not currently redeemable. |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A Alpha Charizard password B1G0006 | Valid December 9, 2025 through January 19, 2026. The Pokémon Company International, 2025. | This historical code window has ended. |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundle bonus of 100 Ultra Balls | The September 30, 2026 announcement says the serial codes have no expiration date, but ending network service or other circumstances may prevent claiming the gift. The Pokémon Company International, 2026. | Applies to this specific bundle bonus, not to Mystery Gift codes generally. |
| Gifts in Pokémon HOME’s Gift Box | Pokémon Support says they become unavailable after “a certain period of time” but does not state a duration. Pokémon Support, updated January 30, 2026. | Claim or send the gift promptly; no universal number of days is established. |
For the Legends: Z-A bundle offer, the announcement also says the Mystery Gift feature becomes available after approximately one hour of play. That timing is specific to this offer and game; it is not a general requirement for other Mystery Gifts.
Quick Recap
What to check before you redeem
- Game or service: Confirm the offer supports your exact Pokémon game or Pokémon HOME.
- Dates: Look separately for when distribution begins and ends, and for any code redemption deadline.
- Claim limits: Check whether the gift is limited per save file or whether the code can be reused. Do not assume limits carry over from one promotion to another.
- Delivery location: Determine whether the gift arrives in the game or first goes to the Pokémon HOME Gift Box.
- Requirements: Check for an internet connection, local event access, or required game progress.
- Service availability: Even a code described as having no expiration date may not be redeemable if the relevant network service is no longer available.
