Do you need Game Pass to play Halo?
Halo Infinite multiplayer
No. Halo Support says Halo Infinite multiplayer is free-to-play on PC and Xbox consoles and does not require an active Game Pass subscription. You can install it through the Xbox app or Steam on PC, or through the Xbox Store on console. The Campaign is separate, so check the edition and storefront before paying if you want the story mode. MCC is a separate collection purchase or a subscription catalog item when included in your plan. Availability through PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass is not a guarantee that every plan includes it; check the current listing for your region and subscription tier before relying on access. Does a Halo purchase transfer between PC and Xbox?
For eligible Halo Infinite Xbox or Microsoft Store purchases, Halo Support says Xbox Play Anywhere carries the purchase between Xbox consoles and the Xbox app or Microsoft Store app on PC. That does not apply to a Campaign purchase made through Steam: Halo Support says it is available only through Steam. - Choose the exact game. Look for Halo Infinite if you want its free multiplayer or separately paid Campaign, or Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the classic collection.
- Match the platform and storefront. On Windows, check the Xbox app, Microsoft Store, or Steam listing you intend to use. On Xbox, check the game’s console compatibility and edition in the Xbox Store.
