PokéRogue is a browser-based Pokémon fangame inspired by roguelite games, not an official main-series Pokémon release. You choose from your collected starters, battle through a run of changing encounters and biomes, and build a wider roster for future runs by catching and hatching Pokémon. Classic is a natural place to start; other modes, including Daily Run and Endless, have distinct rules.
How a PokéRogue run works
At the start of a run, you choose starters from the Pokémon available in your collection. In Classic, the combined cost of your chosen starters is capped at 10 points. You then progress through battles, using run rewards and opportunities to catch Pokémon to respond to the encounters ahead.
A run’s immediate choices shape that attempt, but collection progress also matters beyond it. Pokémon you catch or hatch can expand the starter options available on later runs. The official PokéRogue Wiki has a new-player guide with current details on the interface and mechanics.
Which PokéRogue mode should beginners try?
Classic is the structured adventure to understand first. The game also lists Daily Run, Endless, Spliced Endless and Challenge; these modes have their own rules, and some have unlock requirements. Check the current wiki before starting if you need the latest mode details.

What carries over between runs?
Your collection gives future runs more options. Catching Pokémon can add them to the roster you choose starters from, while Eggs offer another way to expand it. The wiki explains that vouchers earned through game milestones can be used in the Egg Gacha; hatched Pokémon can then become starters in later runs.

The new-player guide also describes collection-related unlocks, including improvements to available IVs and choices such as gender, nature, ability, form and Egg moves for an evolution line. These details may change, so check the current guide for exact mechanics rather than relying on an old list.
How to get started
- Open the browser-based game and review its current new-player guide.
- Choose a mode. Classic is the clearest starting point for learning the structured adventure.
- Select owned starters while keeping Classic’s combined 10-point cost cap in mind.
- Battle through encounters, use rewards thoughtfully and catch Pokémon when useful to your collection.
- Use vouchers in the Egg Gacha if you want to pursue Eggs; hatched Pokémon can broaden your choices in future runs.
- Before trying another mode, check its current rules and unlock requirements on the official wiki.

Do Pokémon carry over between runs?
Your collection can expand across runs: caught Pokémon and Pokémon hatched from Eggs can become starter options later. The run itself and the collection are different parts of progression.
How do Eggs and vouchers work?
The wiki says vouchers earned through game milestones can be used for Egg Gacha pulls. Hatched Pokémon can join your starter roster for future runs; consult the current Eggs guide for details.
