Bought the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass but cannot find the DLC? This Switch 2 troubleshooting guide explains how to verify the purchaser account, load or redownload the Virtual Game Card, claim Ditto print bonuses, unlock Bubbly Basin and reinstall safely.

If you bought the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass and its content is not appearing, follow Nintendo’s checks in this order: update the Switch 2 and Pokopia, restart the console, verify the purchase with the Nintendo Account that paid for it, load or redownload the Expansion Pass Virtual Game Card, then check the in-game Downloadable Content menu and progression requirements. If you still cannot access the content, use Nintendo’s separate recovery procedure for a physical or digital copy of Pokopia.

The pass is paid Nintendo Switch 2 DLC and does not include the base game. The instructions and release information below reflect Nintendo’s US English/Americas guidance checked October 13, 2026; menus, availability and release timing can vary by market.

First identify what is actually missing

“Missing DLC” can describe several different situations. The fix depends on whether the Expansion Pass is absent from your account, downloaded but not loaded, hidden behind an in-game requirement, or simply not released yet.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

What you see Most likely explanation Where to start
The eShop page shows a price instead of Purchased. You are viewing the page with a different Nintendo Account, or that account never bought the pass. Open eShop with the account that completed the purchase.
The pass is marked Purchased, but no content downloads. Its Virtual Game Card is not loaded, or the download data is not present on the console. Load the DLC Virtual Game Card or use Online License settings to redownload it.
The game starts, but the Ditto print recipes are absent. The bonus must be claimed from Pokopia’s Downloadable Content menu; the game must be version 1.1.0 or later for the recipe bonus. Update the game, then use the Pokédex menu and select Check Items.
You cannot enter Bubbly Basin’s underwater area. This is a progression gate, not necessarily a failed purchase. Learn Dive and complete the important request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach.
You are waiting for a later area. Part 2 and Part 3 were not released when Nintendo’s troubleshooting article was prepared. Check the current release status before treating the content as missing.

The Expansion Pass is separate from the full Pokémon Pokopia game. You need the base game installed on the same Switch 2 system, and the purchase is tied to the Nintendo Account used to buy it.

#1 Best Overall
Pokémon Pokopia - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
  • Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
  • Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
  • Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
  • Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.

What the Expansion Pass purchase does—and does not—include

This is paid digital DLC for Nintendo Switch 2, sold through Nintendo’s eShop and Nintendo Store. It is not a replacement for Pokémon Pokopia, and buying the pass does not provide the base game. If you do not own Pokopia, obtain the full game separately; Nintendo’s physical-game wording refers to the Pokémon Pokopia Nintendo Switch 2 game, while the Expansion Pass remains a separate purchase.

There are no separate official pass editions identified in Nintendo’s product information. The practical distinctions are the Nintendo Account that owns the pass, the console’s Virtual Game Card state, the part of the pass you expect to use, your game copy’s sales region and whether your copy is physical or digital. Do not purchase a second pass merely because a different user profile cannot see the first user’s ownership.

1. Update Switch 2, update Pokopia and restart

Nintendo’s published sequence starts with software updates. An outdated system or game can prevent the console from recognizing newly purchased content.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. From HOME, open System Settings > System > System Update and install any available Switch 2 system update.
  2. Connect the console to the internet. On HOME, highlight Pokémon Pokopia without starting it, press + or −, choose Software Update > Via the Internet, and install the latest game update.
  3. Restart the console: press the POWER button, open Power Options, and select Restart.
  4. After the restart, launch Pokopia again with the player profile that should use the DLC.

Do not skip the restart. It refreshes the console’s license and Virtual Game Card state after updates. Keep the console connected until downloads and update verification finish; launching the game while an update is still pending can make a correctly owned add-on appear absent.

2. Confirm the purchase with the buying Nintendo Account

A digital purchase belongs to the Nintendo Account that launched Nintendo eShop at checkout. It cannot be transferred to another user. A family member’s profile may be able to play shared software in some circumstances, but that does not change ownership of the Expansion Pass.

  1. Open Nintendo eShop from the Switch 2 HOME menu.
  2. Choose the user who purchased the Expansion Pass—not merely the profile that normally plays Pokopia.
  3. Search for the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass and open its product page.
  4. Check the purchase button. Nintendo says a valid purchase should display Purchased.

If the page shows a price, Nintendo’s explanation is that the DLC was not bought on that account or belongs to another user. Switch to the purchaser’s profile and check again. Do not buy the pass a second time until you have verified which account made the original transaction.

Pokémon Pokopia Standard - Nintendo Switch 2 [Digital Code]
  • Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
  • Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
  • Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
  • Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
  • Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 guidance says digital content is added to the purchaser’s Virtual Game Card collection. The eShop page is useful for confirming ownership, but Nintendo identifies the Virtual Game Card on HOME as the redownload route. If you have several Nintendo Accounts on the system, record which one shows Purchased; that is the account to use for every subsequent card and download step.

3. Load or redownload the Expansion Pass Virtual Game Card

Load it from the Expansion Pass product page

  1. While signed in as the purchasing user, open the Expansion Pass result in Nintendo eShop.
  2. Choose Virtual Game Cards.
  3. Confirm the operation and ensure the Expansion Pass card is loaded on this Switch 2.
  4. Return to HOME and start Pokopia.

A pass can be owned by the account yet unavailable to the game if its DLC Virtual Game Card is not loaded on the console. Loading the card is therefore an ownership-and-console check, not a new purchase.

Use Online License as an alternate download path

If loading the card does not restore the content, Nintendo provides an Online License option. This is useful when you regularly move digital content between systems or want the console to verify ownership online.

  1. Open the profile menu for the Nintendo Account that purchased the pass.
  2. Open Online License Settings and enable Use Online License.
  3. Open Virtual Game Cards and choose the purchasing user.
  4. Select the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass.
  5. Choose Options > Download Data, then confirm the download on HOME.
  6. Wait for the download to finish before launching the game.

Nintendo’s general Switch 2 instructions state that purchased downloads can be redownloaded by loading their Virtual Game Card from HOME; opening eShop is not the redownload method itself. If the card is already loaded, use the Options menu to check for downloadable data rather than repeatedly opening the store page.

4. Check Pokopia’s Downloadable Content menu

After the pass is owned, loaded and downloaded, verify the content inside the game.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Start Pokémon Pokopia with the intended player user.
  2. Press A at the title screen to continue.
  3. Press + to open the Pokédex.
  4. Choose Downloadable Content at the bottom right.
  5. For the dynamic Ditto print recipes, select Check Items.

The dynamic Ditto print and wallpaper recipe are purchase bonuses, not the Bubbly Basin area. Nintendo’s store listing specifies that Pokopia version 1.1.0 is required to receive the recipe bonus. If the menu does not show the items, update the game before repeating the check. Seeing the area but not the recipe, or seeing the recipe but not being able to enter the area, points to different checks rather than one missing download.

5. Check the Bubbly Basin progression requirement

Owning the pass does not let you bypass every story requirement. Nintendo specifically states: “To access Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate, you must first learn Dive and complete the important request ‘Raise the environment level!’ in Bleak Beach.”

  1. Progress through Pokopia until the game teaches your character the Dive ability. Dive was added in a free software update, so an up-to-date game is essential.
  2. Travel to Bleak Beach.
  3. Complete the important request named Raise the environment level!.
  4. Return to the underwater gate at Bubbly Basin and try to enter again.

If the gate remains closed before both conditions are complete, that behavior is a progression lock rather than proof that the Expansion Pass failed to install. The DLC menu can confirm ownership, while the story requirements control access to the area. Complete both requirements on the player save that is testing the pass; changing user profiles does not skip the in-game progression state.

6. Do not mistake unreleased content for missing DLC

Nintendo listed Expansion Pass Part 1, Bubbly Basin, as released on August 4, 2026. The same Nintendo information scheduled Part 2 for late 2026 and Part 3 for 2027. Nintendo’s troubleshooting article said Parts 2 and 3 had not released when its instructions were prepared.

Expansion Pass content Status in Nintendo’s October 2026 information What to do
Part 1: Bubbly Basin Released August 4, 2026 Use the account, Virtual Game Card, update and progression checks above.
Part 2 Scheduled for late 2026; exact availability can change by market or later announcement. Verify the current release status rather than reinstalling for an unreleased section.
Part 3 Scheduled for 2027; it was not released when Nintendo’s troubleshooting article was prepared. Wait for release and confirm the current schedule.

Release schedules are volatile. Check Nintendo’s current product and support information for your market before concluding that a later part is defective. A future part cannot be restored by reinstalling Part 1 or by buying the pass again.

7. Reinstall the correct way if the content is still inaccessible

If the purchase is confirmed, the Virtual Game Card is loaded, the game is updated and the progression gate is cleared, Nintendo provides separate recovery paths for physical and digital copies. The important distinction is to delete software data while preserving save data.

Physical game-key-card copy

  1. Close Pokopia and safely suspend or end the game session.
  2. Remove the physical game card from the Switch 2.
  3. In the console’s software-management options, delete Pokopia’s software data. Do not select the option that deletes save data.
  4. Reinsert the game card. The console should prompt you to redownload the game software.
  5. Complete the download, connect to the internet and install the latest Pokopia update.
  6. Use the purchasing Nintendo Account to load or redownload the Expansion Pass Virtual Game Card.
  7. Launch the game and repeat the Downloadable Content check.

The physical card supplies the game license, but it does not replace ownership of the separately sold Expansion Pass. Removing and reinserting the card cannot correct an eShop account mismatch or a DLC purchase from a different sales region.

Rank #4

Digital copy

  1. Close Pokopia.
  2. Delete the game’s software data from the console’s data-management options, taking care to preserve the save data.
  3. Redownload the digital Pokopia game using the Nintendo Account that owns it.
  4. Install every available game update.
  5. Load or redownload the Expansion Pass from Virtual Game Cards with the account that purchased it.
  6. Start Pokopia and check the Downloadable Content menu, then test Bubbly Basin only after completing its story requirements.

Deleting software data removes the installed program, not your progress, when you follow Nintendo’s specified option. Read the confirmation screen carefully before accepting it. If the screen offers separate choices for software and save data, choose only the software option. If you are uncertain which entry is which, stop and ask Nintendo Support before confirming.

Account, region and system checks that are easy to miss

Match the game and DLC sales regions

Nintendo’s general Switch 2 software guidance says software and add-on content are intended to be used in combinations from the same sales or distribution country. A different-country pairing may not work and is not covered by Nintendo’s compatibility checks or after-sales service. This is general guidance, not a Pokopia-specific compatibility matrix, so it does not establish that every cross-region combination will fail.

  • Check the country or market associated with the game copy.
  • Check the country of the Nintendo eShop account that bought the Expansion Pass.
  • Avoid assuming that an imported game and locally purchased DLC are interchangeable.
  • For an exact combination, ask Nintendo Support rather than buying another copy.

Use the correct player after ownership is fixed

Launch Pokopia with the intended player profile after loading the Virtual Game Card. If several users play on the console, first establish ownership with the purchaser’s account, then test the game with the profile that should access the content. This separates an ownership check from a save-file progression check.

Do not infer an outage without evidence

Nintendo’s reviewed support article does not identify a current service outage or a known widespread Pokopia defect. An individual failure should not be attributed to an outage unless Nintendo publishes new information. Complete the account, download, update and reinstall checks before escalating.

When to contact Nintendo Support

Contact Nintendo Support if all of the following are true:

  • The Expansion Pass page shows Purchased for the account that paid.
  • The Switch 2 and Pokopia are fully updated and the console has been restarted.
  • The Expansion Pass Virtual Game Card is loaded, or Online License download has completed.
  • You checked Pokopia’s Downloadable Content menu.
  • You completed Dive and “Raise the environment level!” when testing Bubbly Basin.
  • You followed the physical or digital reinstall path without deleting save data.

When you contact support, provide the Nintendo Account used for purchase, whether your copy is physical or digital, the game and system versions, the exact eShop label you see, and the step at which access fails. Also state your game and DLC sales regions. These details let Nintendo distinguish an account-ownership problem from a Virtual Game Card, compatibility or progression issue. Include whether you are missing the recipe bonus, Bubbly Basin access or a later pass part, since each has a different explanation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Nintendo eShop show a price instead of “Purchased” for the Expansion Pass?

You are probably viewing the product page with a Nintendo Account that did not buy the pass, or the pass was never purchased on that account. Open eShop with the account used at checkout. Do not buy it again until that account is confirmed.

How do I redownload the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass?

Use the purchaser’s account to open the pass under Virtual Game Cards and load it on the Switch 2. If needed, enable Use Online License, select the pass, choose Options > Download Data, and confirm the download on HOME. Nintendo says the Virtual Game Card route, rather than reopening eShop, is the redownload method.

Why are the Ditto print and wallpaper recipes missing?

Update Pokopia to version 1.1.0 or later, start the game, press + at the title screen to open the Pokédex, choose Downloadable Content, and select Check Items. These recipes are purchase bonuses and are separate from the Bubbly Basin area.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why can’t I enter Bubbly Basin?

The underwater gate has a progression requirement. Learn Dive and complete the important request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach, then return to the gate. Ownership of the pass alone does not bypass those conditions.

Does the Expansion Pass include the Pokémon Pokopia base game?

No. It is paid Nintendo Switch 2 DLC and requires the full Pokémon Pokopia game. A physical or digital copy of the base game does not automatically include the separately purchased pass.

Can an imported Pokopia game use Expansion Pass DLC from my local eShop?

Nintendo’s general guidance recommends matching the game and add-on content’s sales or distribution country. A different-country combination may not work and is not covered by compatibility checks or after-sales service. Check the exact pairing with Nintendo before purchasing again.

Are Parts 2 and 3 missing from my purchase?

Nintendo listed Part 2 for late 2026 and Part 3 for 2027, and its troubleshooting information said they had not released when prepared. Check the current release status for your market before troubleshooting an unreleased part.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will reinstalling Pokopia erase my progress?

Nintendo’s recovery steps instruct you to delete software data, not save data. Follow the physical-copy or digital-copy procedure carefully and read each confirmation screen. If you cannot clearly distinguish the two options, contact Nintendo before deleting anything.

The Bottom Line

Verify the purchaser account, update and restart the Switch 2, load or redownload the Expansion Pass Virtual Game Card, then check Pokopia’s DLC menu and the Dive/Bleak Beach requirement. Reinstall software data only if Nintendo’s matching physical or digital procedure is necessary, preserve save data, and contact Nintendo Support if the pass still cannot be accessed.
