Pokémon Pokopia is already available for Nintendo Switch 2, having launched on March 5, 2026. Nintendo lists the game at 6.8 GB. That is the listed game/download size—not a guaranteed total for the game after updates or downloadable content.

Can you preload Pokémon Pokopia?

No preload is needed now: Pokémon Pokopia has been available since March 5, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s official product pages confirm the release date, but they do not establish when preloading began or how long it was available before launch. [Nintendo US listing; Nintendo UK listing]

How much space does Pokémon Pokopia need?

Nintendo’s UK and Canadian store listings give the game’s listed size as 6.8 GB. Use that as the base figure when checking available space, not as a complete estimate for the game plus every update and add-on. Nintendo does not provide a combined total for those items in the official information cited here. [Nintendo UK listing; Nintendo Canada listing]

Plan for updates and downloadable content

Updates

Nintendo Support lists version 2.0.1 as released on September 7, 2026. Nintendo says game updates download and install automatically when the console is connected to the internet. Leave some storage headroom rather than treating 6.8 GB as a fixed, all-in total. [Nintendo Support: Pokopia update information]

Downloadable content

Nintendo’s listing says additional storage may be needed for downloadable content. Nintendo Support also identifies Expansion Pass content released or scheduled beyond the base game, so the space required can depend on which content you choose to add. [Nintendo UK listing; Nintendo Support: Pokopia update information]

What to do if your Switch 2 is low on space

  1. Check available system storage in the console’s storage settings before downloading the game or add-on content.
  2. Allow room beyond the listed 6.8 GB for updates and any downloadable content you plan to install; Nintendo does not state one combined total.
  3. Consider a compatible microSD Express card if system storage is insufficient. Nintendo presents this as an option for limited storage, not a requirement for every player. Confirm that a specific card is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 before buying it. [Nintendo UK listing]

Digital or game-key card?

Nintendo identifies both digital and game-key card versions. The official pages reviewed do not give a separate installation-size comparison between those formats, so do not assume the game-key card eliminates storage needs for game data, updates, or add-on content. [Nintendo UK listing]
