Pokémon Pokopia Version 2.0.0, released in August 2026, adds underwater exploration and house building alongside substantial changes to inventory, crafting, navigation, and customization. When Version 2.0.0 arrived—and how it fits into the update history
Nintendo’s English support page dates Version 2.0.0 to August 4, 2026. The Pokémon Company’s Singapore notice is dated August 5; those are the dates displayed on the respective regional pages. Nintendo’s history lists Version 2.0.1, released September 7, 2026, as the latest update as of October 13. The 2.0.0 changes below are part of the game update, not the separate paid Expansion Pass. What underwater play adds
Version 2.0.0 gives Ditto the new Dive move, allowing free movement underwater. Pokémon with the Build specialty can also build houses underwater, opening a new setting for construction rather than limiting building to land. Strength can be used underwater as well.

The update also improves related movement and water interactions: companions can follow while Ditto uses Surf, Glide, Rollout, or Magnet Rise; Surf can be activated on land by pressing the Surf button while holding the focus button; and Surf and Waterfall activation was adjusted to be smoother. When Ditto releases water, its level now automatically matches nearby water.

Everyday changes to inventory, crafting, and tasks
Move items and craft with fewer interruptions
- Items can be moved between the storage box and bag in bulk.
- When crafting at a workbench, the game now uses materials in a nearby storage box before materials in the bag.
- Players can delete items placed inside objects such as the garbage bin.
- Lost relics can be appraised in batches of up to 10.
Repeat actions and navigate to Pokémon more easily
- Paint, Gather Honey, and Collect can be repeated within one interaction.
- If a Pokédex search finds a Pokémon in another town, Return Home can take the player to that town.
- The Pokédex and Habitat Dex each gain an All tab.
- Ordinary conversation indicators are reduced, helping special conversations and requests to Ditto stand out.
More flexible movement and building
Players can move while the move wheel is open. While rolling, Ditto can inhale items and open the bag, and Rollout can break some natural objects, including large boulders. Leafage can return farm soil to normal soil. The placement limit for power generators, excluding furnaces, rises from 64 to 128.
Customization, photography, and camera options
Version 2.0.0 adds five hair colors: orange, light pink, yellow-green, blue-green, and brown. The Lie Down and Ready, Set, Go! emotes can be obtained in Bleak Beach and on Dream Islands. After acquiring the diploma, players can talk to Smearguru to get a dynamic Ditto print pattern; Smearguru can also learn patterns from photos in References.

More objects can be painted: the stylish stool, handrail, metal chain, workbench, vending machine, bike, bookcase, Pokémon Center counter, arrow sign, and rope. Windows, doors, and similar items can be placed at finer depths. The number of different photos that can be displayed in a town increases from 10 to 40, and paint balloons make their target item clearer. A new camera setting is intended to reduce motion sickness, while an option can hide the confirmation message shown when canceling Magnet Rise.
Habitat behavior and other refinements
- If a Pokémon’s habitat is destroyed, it will move back in if the same habitat is rebuilt within a certain area. Pokémon upset by removed furniture notice sooner when the same furniture is replaced.
- Pokémon that taught Ditto an emote respond with that emote when Ditto uses it.
- Pokémon not assigned to the Build role on a construction project can help with cooking.
- Dream Island treasure discoverable with the Dowsing Machine increases.
- Buildings can still be remodeled with items attached to roofs or walls, and the game explains this more clearly.
- Curved-eave crafting output increases to 10; certain roofs block water; and Tidal Bell and Clear Bell can be activated by laser sensors and switches.
- Event-notification timing changes, and Nintendo reports improved performance for certain rendering processes.
Bug fixes and later Version 2.0.1 fixes
Version 2.0.0 also fixes issues involving construction interactions, Pokémon crossing water or falling from habitats, habitat returns, Magnet Rise warnings, movement over duckweed, requests involving disliked items, berry processing, music timing, painting behavior and costs, furniture display, multiplayer building, relocation kits, and Dream Island loading and return behavior. Nintendo also lists fixes for several quest-progression cases and says it made additional adjustments and bug fixes.

The follow-up Version 2.0.1 addresses different problems: Ho-Oh and Lugia repeatedly descending and reappearing, Pokédex search failing to find a Pokémon, a relocation kit that cannot be picked up, repeating sound effects, freezes, and the game remaining on a loading screen. How to update and play online
Nintendo says the software update is required to use the game’s Internet features. Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and everyone playing together must use the same software version.

- Connect the Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet.
- From the HOME Menu, highlight Pokémon Pokopia without launching it.
- Press the + or – button, choose Software Update, then select Over the Internet.
- Confirm the game has updated before joining others online; players need matching software versions.
Why the update matters
The headline addition is a new place to explore and build: underwater. The rest of Version 2.0.0 makes frequent activities—moving materials, crafting, finding Pokémon, repeating interactions, and customizing a town—more flexible. The full set of notes also includes content additions and bug fixes, so it is broader than a quality-of-life patch alone.
