Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Prepare for each level 60 shrine battle
All four Ruinous Pokémon are level 60. Arriving with a team around level 55 or higher is a recommendation, not a game requirement. Before interacting with the shrine, save your game so you can recover if the encounter goes badly. Bring healing items and capture supplies, including Ultra Balls, and weaken the Pokémon carefully without knocking it out.

Each target is Dark-type plus a second type. The Ruin abilities also weaken one of your party’s stats, which can change how the encounter plays out. The following type matchups and ability effects are reported by iMore’s gameplay guide.
| Pokémon | Type | Weaknesses | Ruin ability effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wo-Chien | Dark/Grass | Fire, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Flying, Bug (4×), Fairy | Tablets of Ruin lowers the Attack of other Pokémon by 25%. Bug is especially effective. |
| Chien-Pao | Dark/Ice | Fire, Fighting (4×), Bug, Rock, Steel, Fairy | Sword of Ruin lowers the Defense of other Pokémon by 25%; avoid over-damaging it. |
| Ting-Lu | Dark/Ground | Water, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Bug, Fairy | Vessel of Ruin lowers the Special Attack of other Pokémon by 25%; weakening it may take extra turns. |
| Chi-Yu | Dark/Fire | Water, Fighting, Ground, Rock | Beads of Ruin lowers the Special Defense of other Pokémon by 25%, so special attacks can hit harder. |
The 25% figures describe the reported effects of the Ruin abilities on other Pokémon in battle. Use the listed weaknesses to select attacks, but keep damage controlled: a super-effective hit can make it easier to knock out the target before catching it.
