The Pokémon TCG Pocket Blastoise Drop Event ran from December 31, 2024, to January 14, 2025 (PST), and has ended. It was a solo battle event with four increasingly difficult Water-themed battles, promo-card rewards, and one-time challenges. The official announcement recommended Lightning-themed decks. If you want to know whether the event returns, check the latest in-game news; no rerun is established by the official announcements cited here.
How the Blastoise Drop Event worked
The Pokémon Company International described the event as solo battles against Water-themed decks. Its four battle tiers grew more difficult, and the announcement recommended Lightning-themed decks as a broad counter. It did not provide a specific deck list.
The official announcement said the event featured five promo cards, but its accessible text does not name them. It highlighted a Blastoise promo with exclusive artwork, without establishing a precise card number or battle stats. Read the official Blastoise Drop Event announcement.
What rewards could players earn?
First victory in a battle
A first win in each battle could award items such as Pack Hourglasses, Shinedust, Shop Tickets, and a pack containing one of the event’s featured promo cards.
#1 Best Overall
- CELEBRATIONS CLASSIC COLLECTION Single Card.
Repeat victories
After clearing a battle once, later wins offered a chance at a promo card pack, Shinedust, or a Shop Ticket. A promo pack was not guaranteed with every repeat win.
Event stamina and individual challenges
Winning a battle consumed one event stamina. Stamina recovered over time or could be restored with event hourglasses. Each battle also had one-time individual challenges: completing them could earn event hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses even without winning.

Is the Blastoise event coming back?
The official event dates establish that this run is over, but the cited announcements do not establish a rerun. A separate Pokémon Day 2026 announcement covers limited-time missions and rewards, not a return of the Blastoise event. For any new availability, check current in-game news and The Pokémon Company International’s Pokémon Day 2026 news.
