The publisher describes an expansive setting of windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves that ebb and flow. It says local Pokémon live in ecosystems shaped by the lush environment, and that players will team up with Pokémon to overcome challenges and forces of nature that can block their path. This is a broad description, not a detailed account of the games’ mechanics.
The announcement’s language list is Japanese, English, European Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The publisher may revise that list.

What is different between Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves?
The confirmed difference shown so far is the player character’s outfit. The character appears in both versions; Winds shows a light-colored outfit with a wide-brimmed hat, while Waves shows a blue-cap outfit. The version titles also differ.

The announcement presents the same broad release plan, platform, world description, and choice of first partner Pokémon for both games. It does not establish exclusive Pokémon, different story paths, separate maps, or other edition-specific gameplay. Until the publisher announces more, those should be treated as unknown—not as confirmed differences.
What are Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu?
The reveal included special Pikachu named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. The Pokémon Company has said to look forward to future information about their role in the adventure; their function has not yet been confirmed.

What is known about the music?
The Pokémon Company says the main theme featured in the first reveal video was recorded by the NHK Symphony Orchestra. The announcement does not provide further soundtrack details.

Pokémon Support says information about upcoming Pokémon titles is posted at pokemon.com when it becomes public, and that it cannot answer questions about titles not yet announced there. The games are also still in development: the official game page warns that screenshots and footage are not final and that actual gameplay may vary.

Which hardware will run the games?
The announced platform is Nintendo Switch 2, and the official game page calls the titles Switch 2 exclusives. The announcement does not establish compatibility with the original Nintendo Switch.
